Project Summary

The subject of our project called ‘Coding Our Future’ is to make Robotics and coding, which is an innovative application accepted all over the world, a part of education. The efficient use of science and technology in our rapidly developing world will provide growing the generations who have knowledge about how the world we live in and who do not watch the developments in the distance.
This project is the integration activities of robotics and coding into the school course and curriculum. The most important aim of our project in the field of Robotics and Coding is to give our students a new way of thinking and problem solving ability. We aim to raise generations that can distinguish artificial intelligence and real intelligence, predict risks and take measures, divide big tasks into small pieces, work efficiently, and solve complex problem in the future. We also aim to develop students’ ability to approach solutions to problems, to address innovative practices in education by supporting collaborative learning and critical thinking; promote and strengthen intercultural dialogue;to discover the place of robotic coding in STEM studies,to have knowledge about intelligence and strategy games and to increase social integration.
The applicant institution is Şehit Halit Yaşar Mine Secondary School. It is a school open to all kinds of innovations, participating in science fairs, coding festivals and knowledge competitions, and developing the vision of both students and the people of the region. One of the project partners is Cardarelli Institute, Italy. The institute is of primary importance in the cultural framework of the province and is a training center with modern infrastructure and technology.Other project partner San Juan and San Pablo Foundation is located in Spain. The school is a successful school with experience in education, trying to turn young people into ambitious, successful, happy and flexible young people and adults.Other project partner Ion Gh.The Rosca school is located in Romania. It is a school that aims to create skills, knowledge and competence for students and to increase their social competence. The age range of the students who will join the mobilities will be 10-15.
In the the project lasting 24 months, four mobilities will be realized. The first planned mobility will be in Italy. In this activity, participants will be given a seminar about structured coding and there will be coding workshops and cultural visits. The host of second mobility is Romania. In the mobility, the participants will learn to build and program a robot and visit a robot club. The third mobility will be in Spain.Logic games will be played in mobility,Arduino works will be done, robot parts will be created, a company which produces robots will be visited. The last mobility will be in Turkey. In this mobility, the traditional Turkish game Mangala will be introduced, workshops will be held on the introduction and use of sequential sensors and cultural trips will be made to science centers and technology university.
Technical and methodologies such as presentation, demonstration, team work,research-examination,creative thinking,sampling,invention-exploration will be used in the conduct of the project.
As a result of our project, there will be a common learning and change between the participants. The project will enable the students to learn the robotics and coding and use them in their daily lives in a simple way.Companion teachers will develop their skills in robotics and coding, and they will develop themselves in the integration of robotic and coding with all branch courses and school curricula. Thus, more effective, efficient and fun of the lessons will be ensured, the quality of education will increase. In addition, companion teachers will transfer to other teachers in the institution and then to other institutions in the region, when they return to their own country within the scope of dissemination. Thus, the results and effects of the project will be extended to a wider area. After the activities of the participating students and teachers, analytical, algorithmic and creative thinking skills will develop, more solution-oriented, critical and collaborative thinking skills will increase in all areas of life.A cultural change will be experienced among the stakeholders, speaking and understanding skills of students and teachers’ foreign language will improve.
The development of individuals who are equipped with 21st century skills, critically looking, questioning, compatible with European culture is the most important of the long-term benefits of the project. The project will develop common European values of participant students and companion teachers, and their social integration will be strengthened. In the developing and changing world, more advanced training will be taken with robotic and coding to obtain information. In this way, the development of new generations will be ensured in the long term to understand technology and create technology.
