Project Summary
This project was born from the association of three school towards a common need: to become aware of the importance of reducing and recycling to preserve the planet and to spread it to society.
The three schools have different experiences in international projects and they are determined to work together towards our priority, ecology by sharing knowledge and practices in order to achieve the established objectives in this project:
1. To broaden our students’ international contact network.
2. To enhance communicative competence in English language.
3. To promote collaboration through digital tools.
4. To develop competences towards preserving the environment.
The Spanish partner is the coordinator of the project. The Italian partner is acting as a tutor to the Spanish one sharing knowledge and competences in good practices. Finally, the Polish partner provides experience within students exchanges. There is an Erasmus+ coordinator in every school, supported by a team of teachers, in charge of managing all the paperwork, agreeing terms with the other two schools.
The methodology chosen for this project has been designed based on collaborative, cooperative and inclusive practices so that we learn from others, work together and assure opportunities equality for every participant. In order to go deeper into sustainable practices we will work on a specific topic every year: first year we will focus on reducing waste and energy and, during the second one, on recycling less and better (enhance recuperation and reuse in order to reduce recycling).
The eTwinning project will be the axis of our project since our students will collaborate in mixed-nationalities groups through sustainable practices to put into practice. Also students will share here the initiatives they come up with at their organizations and inspiring activities they have attended to. To assure the exploitation of this tool, at the beginning of the project, 2 teacher per school are going to participate in a short-term joint staff training event in Spain about eTwinning and environment.
Our project encloses inspiring activities (included in the timetable) carried out by each school individually making the most of their surrounding institutions and possibilities, others taking place at the three schools at the same time such as Earth’s Day and finally, learning, teaching, training activities.
We include a total of 4 short-term exchanges of groups of pupils (two every school year) which have been places strategically to make a strong collaboration in our project. First we will meet in Italy as it is the school with a wider experience in KA229, secondly in Spain, then in Poland and the final meetings in Spain. During this activities we will move a total amount of 115 students accompanied by 20 teachers.
During the exchanges, the host school will organize the activities to do as well as cultural activities to do after school in order to make a more immersive experience for them and to spend more time together. Organizations will be in charge of organizing the trips when they act as sending institutions and in charge of supporting the others when they act as hosting ones.
We plan to include participants with educational difficulties and economic obstacles who will be supported with a variety of measures designed to assure opportunities equality. Among the 6 graders, we will select participants in short-term exchanges of groups of pupils, which will be chosen by a transparent, reliable and opened selection process.
Everyone willing to participate will have to fill a participant’s form in which they accept the terms and conditions established by the project.
We will select participants filling a rubric evaluating their attitude towards school and the project, academic results, effort done at school and in the project; and need (fewer opportunities, increase relationships, self-confidence…).
Teachers participating in this training activity and the ones accompanying students will be selected according to their level of English, being tutor of the participants, coordinator or headmaster.
Results are going to be thoroughly disseminated national and internationally using leaflets (aimed to students, families and teachers published in 4 languages), eTwinning, the project webpage, news in local press, school publications, local television, social networks.
The achievement of the project objectives will promote not only an improvement of environmental sustainability practices in the three organizations, but also a better understanding and value of cultural and linguistic differences and a personal enrichment for both, students and schools.
In conclusion, the impact of our project is going to be sustainable in time since our students will be a leading a change in society, contribute to the achievement of Europe Sustainable Development Goals 2030 number 4 “Quality Education” and number 13 “Climate Action.
