Project Summary
The main theme of our project JobTrotter was work and mobility in Europe and we chose to deal with the subject from various angles.
In a general European framework, the theme “work and mobility” is at the core of a healthy European integration and our purpose was to adapt our pupils to a changing job environment in Europe.
Our first aim was to develop job searching skills and foster self-confidence when it comes to looking for employment in a foreign environment.
We developed activities that helped them write a CV, behave appropriately in a job interview, visited companies and arranged meetings and interviews with professionals from all walks of life.
In more academic activities, we asked them to look into the employment and social situation in their countries.
To boost our pupils’ confidence and enhance their creativity, we asked them to pitch business ideas in mixed-nationality groups.
We also wanted to consider the different historical contexts and cultural approaches to work across the countries involved in the project.
– What is a good job?
– What are the prevailing sources of employment in your region?
– Where and why do new jobs emerge?
– The modernization of jobs and its consequences on the employment structure.
– The place of traditional jobs in the modern economy.
In a nutshell, this project was an opportunity to make our pupils discover various professional environments, work in international teams to develop their linguistic skills, break an academic mould by engaging in activities that move away from their routine school work, and meet new people who will certainly have contributed to building up their social skills.
