Project Summary
The partnership planned between 6 countries: France, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Slovenia and Estonia will be realised without POland. All institutions vary regarding the size, age of pupils and specifics. This project will directly involve about 700 children and 40 teachers. In small schools, all teachers will be involved, in bigger institutions about 10 teachers from different disciplines.
We have observed: a certain disinterest of cultural places by the local population, lack of knowledge of the cultural and natural heritage, also an intellectual approach became modified by the practice of video games, students lost the taste of the victory after the effort they put in it, loss of confidence, among the children with difficulties, group work isn’t as easy as it used to be, exclusion appears more often, a girl / boy inequality problem, an increase in school dropouts.
The institutions want to create a unifying and formative event around an original and cultural approach so each institution will set up an annual cultural workshops or events involving students and teachers (digital document available). The workshops will then be pooled to make a single document. This final product will be presented in a digital form with thematic entries: dance, architecture, visual arts, photos, video, theater. Each theme will be developed by the partner schools. A final activity integrated into the digital document will allow partners to test ‘benchmarks’ in European culture.
The articulation of actions and the sharing of practices will be a common achievement, but different in its implementation. On the other hand, each school group will share its experiences in artistic education. The sharing of methods, approaches connected with project actions will enrich the pedagogical approach of each partners school.
The general objective is to develop childrens’ skills:
• Individual: improving basic school skills, improving self-confidence
• Social: responsibility, solidarity, acceptance of others, European citizenship, recognition of local and European heritage.
Teaching staff:
• An enrichment of their teaching skills
• The ability to adapt and change pedagogical methods
• The desire to share own experiences with their European colleagues
• A desire to open up to Europe
At first, we will get to know each other, next we will study the culture of each country, the functioning of our schools, our daily and family routines, our free time, our artistic activities and our local heritage.
Then, each partner will propose original artistic activities specific to its country. Partner institutions will experiment with the proposals. In parallel, the creation of the cultural route will take place. The exchange of practices between teachers will guide the progress of the project. During mobilities ” children who become ‘’ambassadors of their country” will work with their friends.
During the 2 years period the project will include:
• 4-5-day periods for children’s mobilities, combined with teacher training periods
• A travelling exhibition at each meeting
• Exchanges of work via the internet, Etwinning platform
• Project presentations and follow-up events to local partners (municipalities, associations, parents, hierarchy)
• Cultural events (artists’ residency, practical workshops, visit)
• The creation of the course in digital form.
• A dissemination plan, a close relationship with the press
• Activity books: PowerPoint, videos
This project will contribute to the development of social and civic skills, taking into account social interactions when conducting collective activities. The students will integrate the notion of culture and heritage into their lives. This project will also contribute to the good use of our mother tongue and a foreign language. The use of ICT will be privileged by the creation of the digital path.
For most children it will be the first step towards the European citizen approach. We hope, this will eliminate prejudice and improve social relations in schools. The children will apprehend their life differently, they will gain confidence, it will help them in everyday learning. Teachers will have better knowledge of the European education system. They will develop their practical skills. Such challenging project will unite all the staff of the school as well as the municipality and will create a real collective dynamics.
The interaction of partners and the development of actions will reinforce the notion of solidarity and respect for others, at the level of adults and children.
The completion of the digital journey will ensure the sustainability of the work. It will remain a reference of European collaboration for the local community and the main paricipants of the project.
