Project Summary
The project entitled “I learn Science with Robots” will give students the opportunity to focus on the role and the use of robots in project schools by analyzing documents and projects related to sciences, Ict, technology and design to create some robotics activities. Besides, our project will provide a practical, interesting and challenging approach to learning science, technology, engineering and math(STEM). Pupils will also be able to grasp what extent robots could be useful and necessary in an European community (schools, home, work place etc.) that they will have to get by. Studying robotics in our project will make computer programming a less abstract endeavor, engage the student who would otherwise not be interested in technology or engineering, and bring high-technology down to the practical, everyday level. Pupils participating in the project will enhance scientific competences through direct experience; stimulate the development of science, creative and innovative skills; develop new skills for new jobs anticipating the future skill demand; optimize ICT supported actions and strategies; be emotionally and physically engaged; have exciting opportunities to build and express their imaginations; consider real-world applications for knowledge; develop their international understanding and cooperation and enlarge their cultural horizons. Our project will be developed in secondary schools in Greece, Italy and Turkey. Our main participant during the project will be pupils whose ages are from 11-15. We will take 5 students from each country to the transnational project meeting and 2 accompanying teachers. Science experiments with robotic cards will be done to make science learning more meaningful. online robotic competition be organized among the partner schools’ pupils. At the end of the project, robotic fair will be done to show our projects prepared during the project and there will a competition. Different robots for different purpose will be prepared by the students. Simulations, distance education, robotic activity with parents will be done also. In 2 years’ time, local and transnational activities will be organized. In local activities we also will do activities with parents, with other schools. Basically, we will use project based learning, learning to learn methodologies, and will improve pupils’ 21st century competence like creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, communication. Our students will learn and develop their competences based on problem-solving, cooperation, creativity; increase verbal communication; develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving strategies; develop the ability to work collaboratively in teams; develop an intuitive understanding of physical concepts in science and math; excel in math and science and choose a career in science and technology; build confidence and self-esteem in technology
The project also will have material results
-e-books of experiments,
-presentations,
-videos for robotic experiments and robotic cards, coding simulations, robotic projects,
-online robotic competitions,
-robotic fairs.
– 3D prints
After finishing this project, pupils will be able:
-learn lifestyle and education in partner countries;
-develop strong bonds with pupils from partner schools;
-improve their digital skills development using e-learning and e-Twining as tools of communication;
-develop team work skills, social skills;
-have more clear vision of their career development
The teachers will be able:
– to enhance the relationship among the colleagues not only from the partner school’s country but also from the other partner schools’ countries
– gain pedagogical and methodological experiences
After finishing the project, an e-book about science experiments will be created with robotic cards to share it with the other teachers and students thanks to the experience to be gained in this project. The skills acquired by teachers and school staff will remain forever in the personal and professional background of the teachers and the schools. Teacher will be able to organize robotic and online competition in their school and in the city with the other schools. Experiments with robotic cards will used by science teacher to teach physic, chemist, biology effectively. 3D prints of historical heritage of our country and city can used by social science teacher like geography teachers, social studies teachers, history teacher etc. Those simulation videos and their codes can be used by ICT teachers of our schools. Presentation about usage of robots in different field will be used by teacher in their lessons. With the surplus robotic kits and censors after the project, the projects schools aim to continue the project with the students, interested in robotics, in their schools or other schools by creating a robotic workshop club in their schools. Thus, the project aims to make the project schools sustain the project’s outputs for a long time.
