Project Summary

The project started with an eTwinning competition “Peace is art”, The project was developed in 2016 for the “63 European competition”. All partner schools have committed to promoting disadvantaged students in their school programs due to their geographical and political situation. The number of pupils with special needs is large. Many children come from families who live on welfare or unemployment benefits. These are less interested in political decisions. This opens up political groups with radical attitudes easier to find co-thinkers. Teaching children and parents about democratic processes is a fundamental issue of the future.
The partner schools of our KA “project are increasingly turning to this process and focusing on the integration of refugees into our schools and the school society. The partner schools have developed individual and collective skills as a sign of European development. These promote the respect of different cultures, lifestyles and world views among themselves.
All school forms were involved. Primary school, special school, high schools and other secondary schools worked across the country and experienced a common cooperation with the different school types. It tended not only individual classes involved, but the whole school community actively involved. More than 2,000 people were involved in this Erasmus + project, being informed and actively involved.
Through new, innovative teaching methods that emerge in student-centered work and problem-based learning, we motivate students to improve their reading and writing skills. This project is conducted in German. It offered students and teachers from Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain the opportunity to improve their foreign language skills. It encouraged children and adolescents not only to use the German language in everyday situations, but also in new language areas. There are other learning opportunities for the schools from Germany and Austria. The implementation in German will involve more students in the project. Many immigrant students in Germany and Austria have limited knowledge of the German language, which is their second language. They are motivated by the written and interactive exchange of their results in order to broaden their language skills. In student exchanges, communication was much easier. Participating in discussions and debates was much more effective. Pupils with a special educational needs did not see their difficulties, but were seen by all other young people as full members of the project. All schools have a large network of out-of-school partners who are involved in society and play an important role in school life, which has a significant impact on the educational program. Some projects show similarities. An exchange of experiences from different countries is very interesting for teachers. We have agreed on 4 modules. Each topic was discussed and worked on for at least half a year. The modules are:
a. Living together
b. Fundamental rights and rules
c. migration
d. Participation / equal access / democracy. Inclusion (in the district, in the parish)
Through a clear project plan and a timely presentation of the tasks and the delegation of tasks to the individual countries, as well as an actively maintained website, all goals could be achieved.
With the good experience in KA2 two schools developed another KA2 project for 2019/20. The German school will start again with KA1 and will continue the topic of the European community of values with new partners. In these two years many readings, discussions, films, games and detailed newsletters were created. All results have had a positive effect on the country-specific curriculum, expanded it and led to a further development of the school location. www.wertewagen.eu.
