Project Summary
Experiencing Europe together – learning common connecting languages - developing your own learning ideas together and using them with modern media – this basic idea led to our joint project design. Participants should be introduced to the digital world of learning media together, with students creating podcasts, videos, and related learning materials.
The common language English and additionally the language German should be taught to interested students more exciting and diversified. The importance and use of the foreign language in practical use outside the classroom can reduce inhibitions and increase the fun of the language.
Within the framework of mutual project meetings, selected topics from the field of “Youth and Europe” should be worked on together. This should result in video and audio podcasts, which in the reportage style e.g. interviews on the streets, visits to emigrated Italians in Germany or conversations with key figures from schools’ locations, for example Politicians, mayors, arise.
Other topics were e.g.
– Why should everyone speak a foreign language?
– The importance of the EU for smaller companies
– Emigration within the EU
– The importance of tourism for the local economy
These podcasts were developed in different language areas, the finished recordings and videos were reworked accordingly by the groups of students, it was also here, technical skills for editing audio and video files to convey and thus the students the importance of the digital learning and working world to clarify.
Outside the mutual visits, podcasts based student groups should create additional work materials, e.g. Cloze texts, worksheets, vocabulary learning aids. These will be permanently available together on a website, and student groups will continue to add documents and assignments. The project has no clear ending, it lives on!
As part of the mutual visits, the students should also find time to exchange informally, where there are similarities, where there are differences? We are looking for a permanent cooperation with a partner school and wish that this project can help us to lay the foundations for a long friendship.
