Project Summary
European Union for the inclusion of Unaccompanied Minors (EU-4-UM)
CONTEXT
In view of the migration flows some European countries are confronted with, several international and European reports have recently raised the issue of unaccompanied foreign minors. In a wish of harmonising the practices and strengthening equity to the non accompanied foreign minors, the reports note a high demand for training of actors on the ground (particularly social workers, educators, psychologists, legal experts) who are in contact with this population.
OBJECTIVES
EU-4-UM project aims at increasing unaccompanied foreign minors inclusion within the European Union. Two operational goals :
1. Improving the support to unaccompanied foreign minors by the dissemination of the existing and innovative practices of inclusion.
Drafting a good practice guide (paper and digital version) based on an exchange of national innovative experiences. More precisely, in identifying, compiling and sharing the successful initiatives linked to the unaccompanied foreign minors inclusion within the European Union.
2. Capacity building at European level of professionals and volunteers working with unaccompanied foreign minors.
Develop a common knowledge of unaccompanied foreign minors population for (future) employees and volunteers of organisations engaged within this field. Co-create with the partners a dematerialised training module (e-learning) for employees and volunteers of organisations on the ground. The module aims at disseminating minors’ rights fostered by the international conventions and the innovative practices in orientation, support and information about unaccompanied foreign minors’ rights.

Finally, partners met at the project closing event in Brussels on 27th september 2019. During this event, the final project results was presented along with the intellectual outputs at european level.
