Project Summary

Our Project Thank you for the music is a proposal of 4 schools: Mittelschule (GER) Instituto Comprensivo Roncalli (ITA) Novaschool Añoreta (SPA) Osnovna Sola Fram (SLO). With our application, we are going to attempt to cover the following needs:
1- Discovering/sharing significant examples of the partner countries musical traditions, successively expanding the research to those of other EU countries.
2- Sharing impressions and good practices/expertise in planning and running school concerts.
3- Expand the project action involving different schools and including the collaboration and co-working of different school subjects (Music, EU Languages, PE, and ICT).
4- Re-evaluation and empowering of the importance/centrality of Music in the global holistic growth of our students.

To cover these needs we have decided as our main PRIORITY, promoting the social and educational value of European cultural heritage, its contribution to job creation, economic growth and social cohesion; our activities will enhance the cultural link and work as a crucial element of our students’ global growth. In the project Thank you for the music we will organize concerts and add to the growth in the spirit of co-operation across schools in order to foster the music as our values of European inheritance and to point out its importance in employability and its weight in the economy.

According with our main PRIOROTY and NEEDS, the project has 5 OBJECTIVES:
O1-Provide exposure to a repertoire European musical tradition.
O2-Afford students opportunities for cultural and aesthetic experiences through active participation in music dance and art; enhance their understanding and appreciation of the European cultural heritage; foster interaction between students and teachers from 4 different countries.
O3-Enrich our regions through concerts and public events.
O4-Foster the contribution of music in learning different languages (especially English).
O5-Acquire technical skills required for artistic self-expression and growth in artistry and musical language.

The project has several RESULTS, although the main ones are the 4 CONCERTS which we are going to run in our area of influence and a MOODLE with two OER didactic units.
MAIN RESULT 1-> 4 CONCERTS
The students in each school would have to do research and choose which 3-4 songs would best represent the European music emphasizing their own hits. These songs would be performed at a concert with 12 to 16 songs at the moment of the short-time exchange. The concerts´ songs will be the same in each country but with different performers (students).
CONCERT ROLES:
In the concert the students and teachers will have different roles:
STUDENTS ROLE AT CONCERT:
a) Presenters: they will narrate the history of European music and explain why the song they are going to interpret represents Europe or their country.
b) Dancers: they will do visual interpretations with different choreographies.
c) Singers/Musicians: who will be the ones who perform the songs.
TEACHERS ROLE AT CONCERT:
They will be the musicians of the concerts.
MAIN RESULT 2
Two DIDACTIC UNITS which will be hosted on a project´s Moodle that will be available for everyone who needs them:
UNIT 1. How do we plan the concert? A teacher unit which explain the steps to run a school concert using PBL methodology.
UNIT 2. A tribute to European music. With explanations about European music history.

METHODOLOGY-> Project Based Learning (PBL)
Students will work on the preparation of concerts over the two years of the project, that engages them in solving all problems that occur during that period: choice of music/songs, historic/social background presentation, choreographies. They will acquire new knowledge and develop/improve specific skills by preparing the necessary materials and organizing the concerts and presentations for a live audience.
