Project Summary

The idea of our project arises from the global ecological problems that the world is facing nowadays: melting glaciers, smog, environmental pollution, endangered species and all this is due to intense climate change, caused by the use of fossil fuels and other human activities. The main aim of our project is to increase the motivation of pupils and members of the community to engage in environmental issues and to attract as many people as possible as everyone has the right to act responsibly, reducing one’s consumerism, as a result, combating climate change.
The project will be carried out in two years between schools from Bitetto ( Italy ), Prienai (Lithuania), Nimes (France), Ioannina ( Greece ), Villena ( Spain ), these schools are situated in different geographical positions with different experience in the field of energy, this will ensure the efficiency of the project. The objective of the project is to familiarise with each country’s energy production and resources, to contribute to energy saving and targeted consumption, including the ways and means of alternative energy extraction, in an effort to reduce CO2 emissions into the environment and climate change.

This project will involve 15- to 17-year-old pupils, English language teachers, science, maths and IT teachers, parents, and local municipalities as well as government representatives.Through this project 88 students and 50 teachers will have the possibility to go on mobility to the partners’ countries.
We intend to work in the following areas: 1 ” Pollution Research”, 2 “Greenhouse gas reduction techniques” 3 “Alternative Energy Sources” . During the implementation of the project activities, we will analyse how energy is produced, what its resources are, where and how much they are consumed, finding out problems related to energy use by meeting with specialists from the Ministry of Environment. We will also organise energy saving campaigns, conferences will be held, we will particularly be interested in waste sorting and recycling, younger students will be trained, too. On the whole, we will strive to create a new energy system that will help reduce household energy costs, a community action plan focused on energy saving will be introduced, eco-friendly home models based on green technologies will be designed, ensuring cooperation between countries to strengthen research, technological development and innovation.
The work methodology will be communicative in order to create the necessary sinergies among the partners to implement the project in all its parts. It will be based on the central role of the students, we will try to involve the learners in the development of activities and they will have an active and important role in the presentations of results( video, articles, reports, workshops, questionnaires), student inclusion is essential for the success of the program. Most of the research activities, which will be carried out, will be based on laboratory approach enabling in this way success for all learners readucing in this way early abandonment of school
This project is important in many aspects since it has a great impact on students, teachers and the community:
1. The Community will acquire new knowledge of the European energy system, the use of alternative energy sources in the EU, their prospects, the potential for energy savings in everyday life, ways of reducing environmental pollution in order to reduce climate change.
2. Students and teachers will become familiar with the social diversity, languages, culture, traditions and education systems of other countries, and will be able to take proper account of it.
3. Pupils will deepen the knowledge and skills of IT, English and science maths, and ensure more active participation in society.
4. Created products: films, announcements, articles, researches will be delivered to school, national communities, used in biology, English lessons, various activities based on the project results will be carried out in the International Baltic Sea project that addresses environmental issues.
5. Strong cooperation between school partners will be established and a better understanding of the project and EU values will be ensured.
The new friendships among pupils and understanding of other cultures will clear away the bias towards foreigners.
