Project Summary

The project “A new approach to globalization: The 2030 Agenda in the world of work – opportunities and challenges” is devoted to current political and social challenges that are of great relevance to the living environment and the future working environment of the students.
The schools involved are all secondary schools and are either part of the professional training or prepare students to study at technical colleges or universities.
For this reason, the project focus is on the future working world of the students.

The aim of the project is that the students deal with global processes and the Agenda 2030. They will delve deeper into selected SDGs (sustainable development goals). This will be done by asking companies or institutions located in their region about self-selected SDGs. As part of the short-term exchanges, a company in a sector is examined more extensively. In Norway it will concentrate on the area of sustainable forestry, in Italy o the pharmaceutical sector and in Germany and Poland on the automotive sector.

The aim of the joint project work is to recognize how closely our world is interconnected and that global processes involve similar problems, the solution of them requires common solution strategies. In this way, the students should also perceive that cross-border cooperation is necessary to maintain peace and democratic structures in Europe. Furthermore, the students should recognize their location-boundity when reflecting on global challenges, but also recognize similarities in approach and perspectives. Last but not least, the project pursues the goal of also looking at one’s own living environment from a sustainable life perspective.

As a project product, we would like to develop a video clip by combining important work results from the short-term meetings and the school projects. When designing this video, we will be guided by our project title “A new approach to globalization: The 2030 Agenda in the world of work – opportunities and challenges”.

Some classes from the project schools with professional specializations will take part in the project. The students from the Norwegian school (Lena Videreaende skole) are in vocational training in the filed logistics and forestry, the students from the Italian school (Istituto Istruzione Superiore Santorre di Santarosa) are aiming for a high school diploma in biotechnology, the students from Poland (ZESPOL SZKOL IM. JANAKASPROWICZA) are going to finish a technical education and the students from Germany strive for the BTEC National Diploma in technical engineering, economic business or social studies. The involved students are aged between 15 and 20. They will be accompanied and supervised by their teachers.
To achieve the goals, we plan work phases and short-term stays at the participating schools as well as cooperation phases via eTwinning. In the introductory workshops at the beginning of the project, the pupils will be familiarized with the project topic and the goals. They will deal with the fulfillment of the SDGs on their own or in groups with the companies. We will use eTwinning to share the results. At the same time, eTwinning will be used for the direct contact between the pupils as well as for the preparation of project meetings. There details of the upcoming short-term exchange will be discussed and questions regarding the work during the short-term exchange will be formulated.

As part of the short-term events, we will first get an overview of global processes and how they influence our everyday life. Then – and this is where the focus lies (globalization in various professional fields) – we are going to deal with various SDGs in companies. This affects the areas of the automotive, wood and pharmaceutical industry. The content will be discussed in workshops and on excursions to various companies and museums.

There will be a video clip as well as reports and protocols to the short-term exchanges as a joint project product. The potential long-term benefit is to motivate the pupils to act sustainably, to perceive and question global influence both on their private and professional environment. We also want to make our students aware that they can actively shape Europe.
