Project Summary

The project brought together 4 schools located in isolated areas and far from the borders of which a large part of the students encounter social and cultural difficulties.
The purpose of this project was to offer them a cultural openness and to make sense of cultural, historical and linguistic learning.
The original objectives were largely worked upon and enabled students to acquire skills from the common foundation of skills and knowledge.
Indeed, the students practiced the English language in context during the mobilities. They also enriched their historical knowledge by visiting and visiting emblematic places of the Second World War. Finally, they apprehended the Anglo-Saxon culture by rubbing shoulders with the English pupils and by moving in the capital of the United Kingdom.
The number of participants is less than originally planned, but students with special needs were included in the project and participated in the mobilities:
School of Canteloube: 72 students (55 students in year 1 and 17 students in year 2)
School of Riom-es-Montagne: pupils (pupils in year 1 and students in year 2)
The activities initially planned were in the great majority carried out. We did not write a short story in both English and French. In addition we did not visit in year 2 the visit of the Royal Air Force Museum and the Churchill War Room in London for reasons of cost and time for some schools.
We think we have done a lot of the activities planned during the mobilities.
– Traditional English and French games
They had a real success. During the mobility in Normandy, all the children participated in an introduction to petanque on the place of accommodation and an introduction to cooperative games such as parachute and pencil play on the beach of Houlgate. In England, students participated in a cricket initiation in the Imperial War Museum Park and Hyde Park.
– Welcome songs
Planned on the day of arrival on the accommodation center songs were appreciated by all the partners and the children took a lot of pleasure to interpret them. In London, since we were not staying at the same place, we sang the songs in Hyde Park.
-Drama show
The working arrangements were modified between year 1 and 2. Indeed, in Normandy, the students of the partner schools were mixed to learn the plays: “Little Red Riding Hood” and “The three little pigs “. Three working hours had been programmed in the week The initial goal was respected. In London, this organization was not possible because the schools did not live in the same school. Therefore, at the transnational meeting in September, it was agreed that the work of learning, role play would be done in the respective schools and that representation would take place in Hyde Park.
-Visits
Visits planned for year 1 have been completed. In year 2, the visit of the Royal Air Force Museum and the Churchill War Room in London did not take place for reasons of cost and time for some schools participating in the project.
For visits, English and French schools were on the same time slot but the students were not mixed. Indeed, some visits required the presence of a guide to facilitate understanding. Only the crossing of Mont Saint Michel was done in project group, all students combined.
-Visioconférences
Videoconferences were conducted using Skype. Technical problems related to the connection sometimes cancel the video conference.
It was difficult to postpone because the schedule of each school was well filled.
