Project Summary
A STep towards new European Learning: a digital and personalized approach, the ASTEL project would form a platform of exchange of good practices and information in VET obtained in Finland, Estonia, Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands.
The new connected world affects VET in multiple ways. For example vocational skills have to be adaptable and at the center of the global agenda. This new transnational partnership will answer to the EU context and needs of modernization and digitalization VET by collecting, analyzing and sharing best practices in five partner countries. The project will address the needs of both VET organizations and working life, teachers, instructors and students for more varied studying pathways.
Three general objectives of the ASTEL are:
1. Implementation of digitalization and the information systems used in the education system
2. Flexible individual study pathways, teacher’s new role. Digital guidance and support services, including school`s admission procedures
3. Flexible and innovative study environments, work based learning.
In the new transnational network, project countries and organizations can learn from each other and develop their education and training through international experience. Cooperating with international partners, developing educational models and learning from good practices will be benefit in getting closer to an innovative, modern and active school we want to achieve. The benefit for VET organization would be to be better prepared for the digital era we live in and to be able to offer their students tailor-made, digitally based learning programs.
The project fits with VET providers’ goal of training their teachers and experts for innovative, digitalized methods of education. Partners will stimulate experts to follow five transnational seminars and three external trainings according to the lifelong learning principle.
The main result of the project will be a model for supporting schools in implementing inclusive education. In the context of this project we expand the term so that in admission to a learning institution each student the needs are monitored individually so that the study path is inclusive. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor the process from the point of view of a student, develop and produce material, practices and support for teachers in order to create genuinely inclusive way of education.
The most visible and powerful outcome of the project is the more effective support for a learner through different aspects of the learning process and hence it strengthens their progression in the education system. The project should help to reduce the students` prevention of drop-outs from school and the effectiveness of educational work.
The project will address the needs of both our experts and students for more varied and challenging educational programs. We hope to incorporate the rapidly growing influence of digitalization into our curricula, thus preparing our students for a world in which the use of digital technologies is constantly increasing.
This project raises the opportunity of providing most students with the possibility to learn according to their abilities and make them more competitive on the labor market.
