Project Summary

Putting into context the project, taking into account that there are support programs for the inclusion of persons with disabilities, 4% OF THE TOTAL ANNUAL PARTICIPATIONS registered by the ESF; but in spite of this, from our experience with young people with disabilities, we can observe that the percentage of YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES involved in this type of activities is even REDUCED due to the lack of preparation of the entities and the training of youth workers.

Therefore, our project consists of a strategic alliance where we will share both good practices in accessibility in youth organizations and we will carry out an analysis that will be reflected in a subsequent guide of the aspects to be evaluated to make European youth entities more accessible. Moreover, we also intend to respond to the need for actions aimed at showing, raising awareness and / or sensitizing society in general about certain aspects, situations and moments of life in which fundamental rights of young people with disabilities are not respected.

The objectives of this Project are:
– TO DEVELOP and to implement a METHODOLOGY OF GOOD ACCESSIBILITY PRACTICES through the cooperation and the execution of joint initiatives among European youth entities in order to promote the skills of workers in the field of youth and youth employment.
– SUPPORT WORKERS IN THE FIELD OF YOUTH in the development and exchange of effective methods that reach young people with disabilities.
– TO SENSITIZE THE COMPANY in general about certain aspects, situations and moments of life in which fundamental rights of young people with disabilities are violated.

The participants involved in the project are both workers from organizations where young people with or without disabilities participate and young people involved in the activities of the organizations. Participation is carried out DIRECT and INDIRECT. On the one hand there are those participants who will interact directly with the project team. These are participants WITHIN THE PARTNER ENTITIES (two workers per entity) and WITHIN THE PARTICIPATING NON-PARTNER ENTITIES (5 different entities that work with young people with and without disabilities by country). Within these, we will have the representation of 3 people: two workers and a young person. All these participants would add a total of 153 people. In addition there are INDIRECT PARTICIPANTS among which are the entities and youth that will participate indirectly with their participation through surveys.

The ACTIVITIES to be developed will be based on the STUDY, ANALYSIS and DETERMINATION of the main accessibility factors of organizations working with young people; the analysis of GOOD PRACTICES observed, the CONFECTION OF an appropriate PROCEDURE IDEARY; and in the DISSEMINATION OF THE STUDY and determination of the measures to avoid the social exclusion of young people with disabilities.

The methodology is based on:
1- Initial PLANNING
2- STUDY, ANALYSIS and DETERMINATION of the main accessible, inaccessible main practices, factors, circumstances, spaces and / or infrastructures in organizations that work with young people. In this analysis we will also refer to good practices.
3- PREPATION OF A GUIDE OF PROCEDURE, METHODS, MEDIA, infrastructures, etc., essential to guarantee non-exclusion.
4- EXECUTION or TEST the ideology in different organizations and the analysis of results and the determination of the measures or requirements that must be taken into account to avoid social exclusion
5- Accessible DISSEMINATION OF THE STUDY, through documents, and expositions in activities aimed at the general population and young people in particular.
6- TRAINING of youth professionals to ensure the DISSEMINATION and the achievement of the objectives

The EXPECTED RESULTS during and once the project is completed translate into a greater participation of young people with disabilities in youth entities through:
– An improvement in the QUALITY AND TRANSPARENCY of European YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS
– Enable a GREATER PARTICIPATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
– Expand the ATTITUDES OF YOUTH WORKERS

With this project, we intend to reach certain beneficiaries, who in this case are in the medium term to:
– Youth entities
– Personnel of public and private entities in the social field
– To European citizens interested in social work to offer new future horizons to young people with disabilities.

In the long term, we intend to reach an inclusive European community, where we are all beneficiaries of a UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY
