Project Summary

Between 01-11-2016 to 30-06-2018, the Foundation for the Development of Sport Infrastructure implemented the Acelerator project. The name created for the project originates from the English accelerate, which means essentially the same as to accelerate. The final effect of the project is the Acelerator portal www.acelerator.eu. The platform for the exchange of good practices is aimed primarily at people from the sports infrastructure industry. The idea to create a tool enabling this acceleration of the development of sports infrastructure was taken from the mission implemented by the Foundation. It is a continuous work to support development and education in the field of raising knowledge about the management of sports and recreational facilities in Poland. The specific objectives of the project were: to acquire new experiences in the field of vocational education; improving competences and skills in acquiring funds for pro-educational projects and internationalization of the Foundation.
The Acelerator platform would not exist without the support of the project partners Praesentis Cooperatie U.A and Municipio de Mirandela. Dutch partner Praesentis Cooperatie U.A – is an expert in managing sports facilities in the Netherlands. The company does not deal with literal administration, it is an advisory / expert body in the field of management, launching new ventures, healing problems.
The Portuguese partner is the municipality-Municipio de Mirandela. It is an organization actively cooperating with national and regional federations, local associations and clubs.
The project involved three short trainings. However, due to the organizational changes in the municipality of the Portuguese Partner, we organized two meetings. One training in the Netherlands took place on 28/05/2017 – 01/06/2017. The participants of the meeting were 22 people who work as decision-makers in sports institutions, face the necessity to make key decisions, people who train in the field of managing sports facilities. On the part of the Dutch Partner of the project, a guardian was appointed who, in cooperation with the supervisor from the IRIS Foundation, exercised substantial supervision over the implementation of the visit program, their proper course, and the conditions of the visit. Participants had the opportunity to see the objects – the Netherlands business cards, among others: Hofbad Ypenburg in Den Haag, Delft Unit Sports, De Warande Oosterhout, Sportboulevard Dorndrecht, De Waterlinie in Culemborgu Alkmaar AZ, Alkmaar Sport NV.
The second training meeting took place on 21/03/2018 25/03/2018. in Mińsk Mazowiecki. Participants were employees of sports and recreation centers and people involved in vocational training. Training and presentations were conducted by all project parties. The meeting concerned information about the project implementation, its results, technical and substantive possibilities. An interesting part of the meeting were visits to sports facilities: Termy Mszczonów, Legia Warsaw Municipal Stadium and PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. Polish experts managing the visited objects shared knowledge about the specifics of their management. The participants of the meeting learned about what the portal can do for them, they got acquainted with the educational / training function of the project, they understood how important part of the portal are case studies.
The project’s innovation consisted in creating an internet platform-Acelerator of good practices supported by short trainings conducted by Partners and by foreign Partners. The aim of the portal is full description of sports and recreational facilities in Poland and abroad (partner countries) a comparative analysis has been made under many useful parameters, eg legal form, technical and descriptive characteristics of facilities in the center’s resources, employment characteristics, financial data, planned investments, etc.The created platform is a pioneer in the market, so far there is no platform that includes such comprehensive knowledge and conducts educational activities in the form of courses and vocational training using the collected databases. The created platform is a source of information for a huge group of recipients (local self-government authorities, investors, entrepreneurs, employees of Sports and Recreation Centers), and developed educational materials, documents and media produced in the program are available on the Portal for all interested visitors created thanks to the project portal.
Each trip resulted in enlarging the knowledge base, the materials were posted systematically on the aelerator.eu platform. The seminar of the Leader was the summary of the project. The meeting was organized in Kołobrzeg, the project was summarized and the portal was presented. The advantages and technical possibilities of the platform were reassigned and once it was encouraged to co-create. Thanks to the project, we have managed to create a publicly available tool that
