Project Summary
ACTIV8 is a project which aims to prevent violence among young people on the internet and mobile devices and to empower young people who have suffered as a result, especially women. The project will be carried out through workshops in educational centres in Spain, Slovenia and Poland and through the creation of a website with resources for young people. It is an educational program which directly develops the knowledge, self esteem and emotional intelligence of young people.
Other related issues which are dealt with include digital citizenship, cyber coexistence, legal responsibilities on the internet, privacy and matters of gender. In short, it aims to prevent online domestic violence among young people.
Project Objectives:
General Objective: prevent violence among young people on the internet and mobile devices.
Specific Objectives:
• 250 young people (100 Spanish, 75 Slovenian, 75 Polish) between 14 and 16 years old will be made aware of methods to prevent cyber violence (grooming, online harassment, sexting etc).
• 250 young people (100 Spanish, 75 Slovenian, 75 Polish) between 14 and 16 years old will be made aware of how to appropriately use a Smartphone (digital citizenship, cyber coexistence, legal responsibilities on the internet, privacy and matters of gender).
• 250 young people (100 Spanish, 75 Slovenian, 75 Polish) between 14 and 16 years old will be empowered and develop their idea of how they see themselves (knowledge, self esteem and emotional intelligence).
• Make resources available to the young people participating in the program to prevent or deal with cases of abuse or harassment online.
• Young people will be involved in the management of the project of preventing violence among young people, especially by collaborating on the website design.
• Train 35 young people to lead by example in using new technologies for other young people and teenagers.
The activities to prepare will include:
• Starting exhibit
• Disseminating and raising awareness of the project
• Training program
Each group will have three sessions per quarter. The workshops will involve the following:
* Knowledge and self esteem
* Emotional intelligence
* Analysis of the situation
* Transnational Meeting of 31 young coaches and 4 coordinators of the 3 partner countries in the month of July in Krakow. Poland
* Product: website of resources
To complete the training program a website will be made where the young people can find adequate resources for their age, such as telephone numbers or interesting links to get more help or information.
• Monitoring and evaluation
Monitoring and support for participants during the course of the project, monitoring forms, coordination with the organisations and coordinators.
Through ACTIV8 it is hoped that the young people who participate will have a greater awareness of the effects of cyber violence, greater self confidence and that they learn to make decisions and face up to situations of cyber harassment in which they may find themselves. It will also help them to listen, share ideas and learn from each other to be able to grow as people and to be more empowered in the future with both personal and social skills.
The partner organisations will ensure that the young people feel like the focus of the program, that they feel listened to, feel together and valued. To achieve this it is envisaged that there will be a coordinator/coach figure, young people that will look after their needs and act as a communication bridge between the young people and the organisations.
We are aware that in this digital society ACTIV8 addresses a very current issue which will continue beyond 2020.
