Project Summary

The background for our project is that we have learnt that many young people today don´t exercise as much as earlier. Much of this is due to the use of computers and smartphones for entertainment purposes. We have also observed that many young people today lack resiliance in terms of learning, they give up too easily or “sweep” to another contents. We have experienced, that teachers often lack the competences to use ICT tools actively, perhaps due to their insecurity in regards to the new technology.

We want to work with ACTIVE learning, where pupils move both mind and body. We want our pupils to use ICT actively in their learning and in collaboration with peers across borders. We want to challenge our pupils´ mindsets so they will become more resilient in terms of learning and more aware of their individual way of learning. We want our pupils to learn to use digital production as a tool in their learning and seek excellence while working with ICT.

We are six schools in Denmark, Iceland, England, Finland, Turkey and Malta, who will participate in this project. We represent many different skills like experience in project management, experience in using eTwinning and creating webpages, ICT-skills and inclusive approaches. Our approximately 2800 pupils come from various ages (3-18 years), backgrounds and the size of schools span from 200 to 655 pupils. We represent five different European languages. We believe our pupils will benefit greatly from the opportunity of working collaboratively with pupils across Europe.

We want to apply for a School Exchange Partnership with focus on developing pupils´ learning skills and key digital skills. We want our pupils to gain experience in key competences like problem solving, critical thinking, ability to cooperate, and self-regulation. We also want to give the pupils opportunities for more exercise during the school day to enhance their learning and health.

We think that it is essential to work to develop also the teachers ICT- skills and competences so they can offer their pupils´more varied learning opportunities with the use of various ICT-tools and applications. We also want the teachers become better in using opportunities to add more exercise for the pupils during the school day.

We will work with being an active/passive learner, learn about Growth Mindset and help the pupils to find out how their own attitude towards learning can effect/benefit their learning. We challenge ourselves, set up GOALS and help pupils to find GOALkeepers – peers in other countries that can help them in being resilient in terms of their GOALS.
We will help our pupils to become more active by giving them opportunities to move while learning, for example using brain breaks in teaching and offering possibilities for learning outside classroom. This will add positively to their health and wellbeing.

We will offer our pupils peer-learning opportunities to develop their key ICT competences and learn to use ICT as a tool for learning in different environments and across the curriculum. This we will do,for example, by arranging in all 4 Learning Activities for pupils, where a group of pupils will learn to use a variety of ICT-based learning applications and they, together with teachers, will bring this new knowledge to their school.

Our teachers will have the opportunity to participate 3 different Teacher Training activities, where they will learn for example about Growth Mindset, the use of eTwinning, using movement to enhance learning, using online evaluation tools and about various learning applications.
In all our Learning/teaching activities we will use many different methods such as peer-learning, working in small groups, working individually and working in mixed groups (eg. age-gender-nationality). We will use eTwinning to share project work, connect classrooms and prepare our pupils for Learning Activities.

We believe that in the end of the project the pupils will have gained the skills ACTIVE mind, ACTIVE body, ACTIVE learner with a focus on life-long learning as they have gained insight in their own learning. We also believe that the teachers have gained better skills in supporting their pupils in their learning, using more exercise in the learning situations and being more confident in using ICT in cross-curricular activities.
