Project Summary

-Context
This project is a part of the European Development Plan each school started few years ago. It will contribute to achieve new objectives of internationalization of our institutes. All the partners involved in this project have previous Erasmus+ experiences. They met in the frame of KA1 and/or KA2 activities. The fact that we know each other personally and as institutions will assure a solid base to our partnership.
-Objectives of your project
The main idea of this project is to create a link between Agenda 2030’s objectives and the European school education priorities.
Through a deep mind-shift and a behavior and attitude’s change we want to make students, families and school communities more aware of their own responsibility in the sustainability of our planet. We all have to realize that each single action will be important to improve the quality of our life and this of the next generations.
Updating the management of the 4 chosen goals in each school means to endorse the best practices of each partner. Doing that, the schools will have the opportunity to improve their context and the environment in which they work.
Sensitizing the local community: the project involves, parents, as well as the public authorities and the NGO’s concerned by the topics. The surveys led by the pupils will arouse interest in the local community and make everyone conscious that our youth is demanding a drastic change; this process that comes from the bottom should be more efficient and, consequently, produce better results.
-Participants
8 students and 2 teachers per partner will take part in each mobility. The age of the selected students will be between 11-14 years old.
For what concerns the teachers: every partner has already a close-knit group of teachers that are part of the Erasmus+ working group. These teachers, fluent in English, are the first involved in the project activities and management. Other teachers will be involved according to the needs and objectives.
-Activities
1- 1st mobility in Belgium will focus on theater methodology adapted to school public, in order to enrich language and communication skills, improve self-esteem and get acquainted with theater techniques. These ones help to develop key competences and on the sharing of best practices in non-formal education activities. The workshop will focus on climate change, pollution, taking care of environment and sustainable development. Agenda 2030 4th goal!
2- 2nd mobility in France will focus on goal n°15 related to the environment topic. The participants will take part in lessons, laboratories, workshops, visits with experts and will enjoy cultural green activities. Study and research, discovering and protection of biodiversity will be the core of this mobility.
3-The 3rd mobility in Italy will deal on goal n°3. Following the same kind of agenda and mobility plan, the focus will be centered on biological farms. We will combine activities on food with foreign language, science and biology and art.
4-In the 4th mobility in Finland, students will take part in workshops related to the “3 E”: they will practice “The island” role-play to sensitize them on building a sustainable society. Visits to parks and sharing of best experiences and practices on climate impact will also be implemented to achieve goal n13.
-Methodology
We developed this project starting from an analysis of each partner’s best practices. Every partner will bring its expertise in sharing competences and skills. During the mobility, we will use different methodologies: workshops and laboratories, frontal lessons, role games/plays, visits… focused on the meeting topic.
Use of Balance Score Cards System to manage the project evolution in order to achieve our objectives.
-Results and impact envisaged:
Practical results are represented by the activity template that we will publish in the project’s e-book, on the website and Facebook page. The templates will be used to impact more classes/schools/teachers/pupils/communities thanks to the fact that they will help to develop theatre shows, advertising social campaigns, scientific and sustainable content workshops… and will be spread all around the towns during the public events.
In terms of skills and competences the students will enhance their foreign language aptitudes, self-esteem, ability to communicate, improving of motivation and cultural awareness. The intended impact statement concerns overall the attitudes and behaviors changes among the students, teachers, parents…and the entire local community, thanks to the open activities run within the project and other extra-curricular ones.
-Potential longer term benefits
The improvement of project management skills for the school staff, the implementation of a dynamic European Development Plan and the process of internationalization of the schools should be the most overarching long-term benefits. Let’s add a sense of permanent research and exchange of good practices among the teachers.
