Project Summary

The project “Amazing Technologies to Enhance Learning trough Innovation, Enjoyment and Research” or ATELIER has meant that for two years we have improved in the development and application of STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) in the five participating centers. We have had the opportunity to deepen in student-centered methodologies and technological tools properly inserted and for them we have had innovative teachers, willing to face the didactic news and apply them in their classroom. Finally, more than 28 teaching sequences (good practices) related to STEAM education have been developed.
All this with the aim of improving the way in which these subjects are taught, fighting against school failure and increasing vocations towards this type of studies, so necessary to boost the economy in the European Union and also to educate free, thoughtful citizens and critics.
To achieve this, teacher training sessions on methodology and technology applied to STEAM have been carried out. This teaching staff has applied what they learned with their students. In several cases, all this practice has been reflected in the writing of a learning scenario. After this, students have been invited to present their work through the celebration of what we call mini congresses: International meetings where students have presented the work done and the main conclusions. This cycle has been repeated throughout the two years of the project.
In the end, most of the results have been reflected on the project website. But in addition, we have achieved that STEAM activities have been present in the centers during these two years, which has led us to expand the range of activities, participating in events such as “Science in action” and other scientific fairs. Teamwork has increased among the teaching staff of each center and also at the inter-center level and several important methodological innovations have been introduced into the classroom. Several of the conclusions have been published in journals and presented to conferences related to scientific education.
In the end, we believe that we have contributed our grain of sand to the improvement of the scientific literacy of society, to improve our environment, to facilitate access to the working world of our students and to create a better world for all.
