Project Summary
The project was developed as a continuation of the 2012 Comenius program cooperation based on the great interest of pupils, teachers and local communities. Its main aim was to develop musical skills and abilities of pupils, to exchange experiences between teachers and school management, and to motivate younger students to further study.
Antiquity as a common European cultural heritage was selected as a base for project activities. Students could explore common cultural foundations as well as national specifics. During project activities students of both schools selected repertoire significant for their nations that shows the influence of antiquity, arranged it, rehearsed and played together at public concerts in Poland and the Czech Republic.
75 students and 5 teachers from the Czech Republic’s choir Pražská Kantiléna and 68 members and 4 teachers of Symphonic Orchestra from Poland participated in the project.
The main result of the cooperation was two successful joint public concerts that attracted large audiences. Participating students had the unique opportunity to cooperate in the international orchestra, gained knowledge from foreign teachers, improved their musical and interpretation skills and gained greater self-confidence and motivation to devote themselves to music professionally. Additional students of both schools had the opportunity to take part in rehearsals and concerts, teachers shared their teaching experience.
The project also significantly contributed to local cultural life in both cities and appealed potential new students. It also attracted the attention of potential partners for future cooperation between schools and contributed to awareness about European projects.
