Project Summary
The current project-proposal aims to build capacities of youth organizations from Europe and Africa in a field of education, training and youth work, testing and implementation of methods of non-formal education.
Tasks of the project:
– Preparing and testing tools for developing key competencies in young people (learning skills, initiative and entrepreneurship, social and civic competences), while establishing methods for performance evaluation;
– Use of the European reference tools for validation and recognition of non-formal and informal learning, both for young people and youth workers through promoting lifelong learning and dissemination of good practices;
– Create a web-based open educational system to be used by the project partners, but also from colleagues in the relevant participating countries (Bulgaria, Italy, Tanzania, Uganda);
The project aims to support and improve the use of NFE and Arts, in combination, as a tool for education, social inclusion, mutual understanding. This project build on the experience of 16 youth workers from Europe and Africa through sampling model for cooperation and exchange of best practices. During the project, participants developed their skills and work patterns through implementing a training process and testing of new tools into practice under the supervision of trainers with wide experience in non-formal education.
The project included a training module for capacity building of the youth workers and practice through implementation of competence development programs for young people:
a) long-term (10 months EVS) for 4 youth,
b) short-term intensive program (11-day youth exchange of 32 youth) and
c) job-shadowing at the workplace (4 youth workers will spend 2 weeks practice with a partner organization).
During the project, the participants were encouraged to assess their progress and particularly the development of cross skills and their application in other areas of work. The acquired experience promoted the entrepreneurship of the young people, involved in the project, and involve them in educational process using the arts and crafts as a tool for development, and go far beyond the activities of young people on the stage and exhibition rooms.
The project targets were young people living in poverty, in shelters, and in a risk of early school dropout. The stimulation of their imagination, creativity, internal strength and self confidence, used as a basis for development of successful strategies to come out of poverty and to become active participants in society and have a happy, healthy and productive life.
In an evaluation meeting participants discussed achievements and was given the start of an web-based platform to access the educational resources in four languages of the partners in order to be able to multiply and to replenish the formal educational models with the non-formal methods.
