Project Summary

As a result of the great working relationship previously established, the IES VALMAYOR, as a novel center, bets to coordinate this new association between four members; Lycée Camus from Bois Colombes, Liceo Capece from Maglie, bilingual high school Miguel de Cervantes from Sofia and IES VALMAYOR. The three foreign centres have already participated in two successful Comenius Projects in the past, and they wish to mantain the proven working link between them, involving their pupils and offering them new opportunities of working together. Futhermore, the three already mentioned foreign centres implemented different Spanish educational action programmes in their centres (Liceo Capece has a Spanish international section, the bilingual high school Miguel de Cervantes with a bilingual Spanish section and the Lycée Camus offers the Bachibac programme leading to the double degree Spanish bachelor and French Baccaláuréat). Valmayor High School wants to be the promoter and impulsor of this new educative association.

“+Art, +Inclusive” is a project which wants to promote methods and innovative pedagogies working with the digital competence from the artistic
dimension and with the objective of improving the social inclusion. We are trying to boost the critic thought from our pupils in order to fight against discrimination, racism, bullying and violence thanks to artistic creation. We look for the promotion of ICT activities joining technological resources such (as video creation, blogs, flipped classroom, digital books…) to art, in order to improve social inclusion and equal opportunities for our students.

In the Project all the pupils from the mentioned centres will participate, and in a more intense manner, a group of students and teachers will attend the mobilities , presenting and developing the central activities from the Project which they will have taken during the previous months of the meeting. Every member will travel to the transnational meetings with 10 students and 2 teachers. To the first transnational preparatory meeting two teachers of each centre will have to attend.

The teachers that travel will have participated actively in the activities planned within the Project and the preparation of the transnational meeting. Students will be selected based on criteria such as the degree of involvement and commitment to project activities, academic record, personal aspects such as the ability to integrate and overcome…

The activities will be very varied and will revolve around the objectives of the Project; they will be proposed by the different departments of each centre and will address the different forms of artistic expression (preferably digitally) that enhance non-discrimination, equal opportunities and freedom of speech. These activities that will take place in the centres will led to transnational meetings, where the common results of the association will be presented as well as the specific results of each centre.

The methodology to be used will revolve around the promotion and innovation of new technologies (flipped classroom, blogs, digital books, podcasts…) for artistic expression and the defence of the values promoted by this association. The teachers will act as facilitators so that pupils will work autonomously and create products based on individual or team work, reflection and collaborative work. In addition, as a methodological innovation we intend to teach several courses in a dual way (face/ on line) which could be done together by teachers and students.

The results will appear in the form of different products related to non-discrimination, gender equality, freedom of speech and European citizenship: recordings of recitals, creation of digital books, making short films, changes in teaching schedules, prescriptive reports requested by the European Union, strengthening the links between the participating centres and, above all, change the vision that the young participants may have of other European countries and create the desire to know more deeply the multicultural reality of Europe.

In the long term, once the Project ends after two years of work, we hope to mantain contacts between centres and to continue working together in different ways; we also hope to insertin the structure of the centres the chansges in the syllabus that have arisen from the framework of the Project.
Futhermore, the elaborated results may continue to be used in the classrooms and the anual competitions for short films, posters and micro-stories with different themes will be maintained, so that the students can continue to develop their creativity.
