Project Summary

ART OLYMPICS is a very ambitious project which directly involves teaching and supporting European young people and which strengthen the professional profile of teaching personnel in several EU countries to actively shape Europe’s Cultural and Artistic future.
– Olympia is a term for a time-limited scope without reservations – we want to do the same for art olympics
– Europe is the birthplace of Olympia. Europe in its history and diversity is also a model for cooperation despite differences.For us are art and culture main objects in Europe.
– Originally they were sports competitions. The first modern Olympic Games in Athens (1896), by Pierre de Couberti, was to combine art and sport, which is why he suggested conducting equal art competitions at the Olympics.at the beginning. Later they changed it again to sport competitions.Today there are also Olympic games in schools for mathematics,chemistry and so on. So we thought why not in art and culture.
– As for example the periode of the stone age didn`t end, because there were no further stones, but they had new ideas in art and technology, they changed the living conditions with new innovations and creativity. So we think that modern topics and problems, like climate change, migration, urban development and so on need a lot of new ideas, innovation and creativity.
– Art is a way to express and exchange ideas, feelings and impressions. Art is a worldwide language. Art is creativity and innovation.

As art (visual art, literature) teachers we are interested in the idea of an Art Olympics.
We will produce art pictures, drawings, models and writings on the subjects of European topics like climate change, virus pandemie, innovative ideas for modern topics in school, innovative rooms, methods and so on.
We will analyse Olympic games and rules for competions. We will prepare with long term exchange pupils our own rules and topics for our Art Olympics 2023.

The disciplines and rules for the Art Olympics will be developed together during the meetings and during the long term exchange. The pupils should use democratic values, accept majorities and ways of discussing and voting.
The participation of the world in the Olympics means an open tunnel to meet to accept the different cultures and people during the games. Even the biggest political differences and reservations can be hidden for this time. This makes it possible in a staggered scope to meet, exchange, compare and measure. But this scope also offers opportunities to get to know new ideas and to leave prejudices aside. The Art Olympics 2023 should be an open innovative tunnel to meet and exchange new ideas for Europe.
