Project Summary
In Europe, according to Eurostat 2018 data, around 25 million children are at risk of social exclusion, and just 1 out of 10 Europeans in an age range between 18 and 24 prematurely leave every training path. Numerous studies, such as the one conducted by the online journal “Quaderni di Economia Sociale” (Social Economy Reports”- February 2018) “Research on Child and Educational Poverty”, shows that there is a vicious circle between material and educational poverty.
In this regard, the “Arte: people hAve The powEr” Project aims at creating a partnership between European educational institutes, particularly in Italy, Spain, Estonia and Croatia which can encourage the development of innovative teaching approaches aimed at fighting the phenomenon of exclusion, through the implementation of virtuous processes of exchange and comparison to support the transmission, through the use of ICT, of the European artistic and cultural heritage, representing the same an undeniable instrument of social cohesion.
In addition, the Priority is aimed at projecting students into an international dimension, gaining critical thinking and flexibility in particular through the enhancement of language skills in foreign languages. The choice of these priorities is linked to the need to promote a “European Spirit” of commitment and inclusion, through the discovery of mutual cultural heritage.
The “ArTE” Project therefore aims at establishing an exchange aimed at pursuing the following development objectives:
– to deepen the idea of European citizenship among students from Italy, Spain, Estonia and — discovering and promoting their respective artistic and cultural heritage;
– to analyze the European multicultural societies involved in the project, and their problems, in particular as regards the situations that hinder inclusion;
-to design innovative educational paths that promote the use of ITC;
– to promote a global approach to teaching foreign languages, encouraging digital and exchange paths, which allow students to communicate in foreign languages with foreign counterparts.
In this regard, “ArTE” is based on the realization of an intervention that will combine virtual mobility with physical mobility. In particular, the 5 virtual mobility activities, planned through eTwinning, will be destined to 24 students within an age range between 16 and 17 from 3rd and 4th classes of Partner Institutes, while physical mobility, 4 exchange activities, will be turned, to shift, to groups of 6 students for each partner school, accompanied by 2 teachers of the specified study field. The activities carried out will allow the realization of a final result, such as a Multimedia APPLICATION of the cultural and artistic heritage of the countries participating in the project.
From the realization of the project, the following impacts are expected:
– an improvement of the scholastic results of the students involved in the project, in particular, of the learners belonging to the disadvantaged categories. It is expected, after 8 months from the end of the project, an increase of 10% of students of the 3rd and 4th classes that will enhance their English and digital language skills. The results of the intermediate and final scrutinies will be taken as indicators, as well as the Self-evaluation Report of the school year 2021-2022;
– greater participation of families in school life, which can be seen in the number of participants in the dissemination activities and in the informative meetings scheduled at the end of the project;
– greater intercultural awareness and European citizenship, detectable by the number of students in the 3rd and 4th grades who will participate, in the school-year 2021-2022, to experiences of international mobility;
– the improvement of the ability to interact with the school staff involved in the management of the project inside and outside the school community by promoting initiatives and projects.
Finally, the “ArTE” project will ensure the development of the participating schools and the strengthening of the capacity to become bearers of the issues dealt with even beyond the end of the project. Specifically, the following factors are expected to improve over the long term:
– quality of education with reference to the constant enhancement of the teaching methodologies and approaches adopted, including through their adaptation to the specific needs of each educational institution;
– ability to propose strategies that favor the social inclusion of the most disadvantaged, their full participation in school life and projects promoted, also understood as the ability to implement valid strategies to combat the phenomenon of early school leaving;
– development of the ability to transmit to the students skills of citizenship, awareness and cultural as well as social and civic expression.
