Project Summary
The Aurora European University alliance aims to equip a diverse student population with the skills and mindset to contribute to addressing societal challenges as social entrepreneurs and innovators.
Collaboration between academic and other staff, students and external stakeholders characterises how we operate. Sustainability of our campuses and our education, research and outreach places us in the forefront of sustainable universities. These are our three objectives.
We will develop the tools, institutional structures and culture and set up the Aurora Institute to make this happen. Thus we will create the skills and mindset, the mode of collaboration and the focus on sustainability to our 260 000 students, 17 000 academics and 14 000 support staff across our nine constituent universities. We will do so through our competences framework, our virtual, physical and blended mobility programmes, through jointly developed teacher training programmes and digital student support services.
We will reach out to at least 30 other universities, specifically in less developed parts of the region, to contribute to a coherent Europe that assures well-being for all.
In three years, we will have reformed teaching and learning in four pilot domains (Sustainability & Climate Change; Digital Society and Global Citizenship; Health & Well-being, and Culture: Diversity & Identity) as testing grounds for cross-Aurora implementation.
All students – first in the four domains and then across Aurora – will receive education that equips them to bring value to society, and helps them to become collaborators and contributors to a sustainable planet.
In 3 substantive work packages with 14 tasks we will produce and apply a Competences Framework, develop and implement joint courses on e.g. General Learning outcomes, Service Learning, Language, Co-creation, as well as joint courses in the four domains, in Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation and in the SDG-perspective.
