Project Summary
Our school is located in a location where refugee students are concentrated. In host countries, immigrant and refugee students face grammatical difficulties in the language they will speak. We prepared the Be My Life Buoy project together with the Turkey, Italy, Lithuania and Spain. In these countries, there are difficulties for the refugee and immigrant students to adapt to the society and integrate into the education system. Throughout our project, there are activities where refugee students in our partner schools can promote their culture. Even if our project ends, some applications will be able to continue in our school because they do not require a budget. Some applications mentioned:
-Peer education: Refugee students who have difficulty solving their problems will receive assistance from qualified and volunteer students in partner schools. Easier adaptation of refugee students to school and friends will be possible.
– With the Sports Tournaments, the students of the project partner schools will learn how to take refugee and immigrant students in a social environment and to act and share all together.
– Refugee students will be given one day with the Free Corner. At a set time, they will be provided to express themselves to teachers and students on any subject. Thus, it will be ensured that they and our school students have democracy awareness and tolerance to foreign speakers.
In order to improve teacher qualifications, 5 LTT activities will be implemented during the project. We plan these activities so that teachers have the following qualifications.
– To be able to plan the education process of refugee and immigrant students
– Planning the education-learning process of traumatized students and integrating them into the educational environment
– Teaching in different and challenging conditions
Having the skills of creating a democratic and inclusive learning environment
We are planning a 5 LTT activity that adopts tolerance among our students, aims to get to know
cultures, and creates awareness about refugee and asylum-seeking students in the community.
When participating staff share experience and knowledge with colleagues at partner schools, the impact of integration achieved in the educational environment will increase.
During the project, 5 LTT activities were planned 2 LTT activity was designed for teachers 3 LTT activity was designed for students. Number of staff and students to attend the project meetings:
a) In LTT activities 60 teachers, 75students
Be My Life Buoy Project aims to adapt refugee and immigrantbstudents to the education system in partner schools and to collaborate and share experiences with different cultures with the same problem. We believe that thanks to the outputs obtained from the project, it can guide different cultures and schools with the same problems.
