Project Summary
The project aims to foster participation of young people leaving care in decision-making process and supporting them in becoming agents of change for vulnerable youth in Ukraine and Georgia through building capacity of civil society organisations working with youth and learning best European practices. The key project objectives are the following:1. To foster cooperation between Partner countries organisations and UK-based leading NGO’s and selected local authorities.2. To support youth-led initiatives and NGO’s through organising job shadowing in the UK NGOs run by care-leavers and follow-up in countries of origin.3. To promote incorporation of project experience into national systems of youth work and non-formal education. The Become project has several target groups. The primary (indirect) target group is young people with disadvantaged background in particular young orphans leaving alternative care and starting independent living (approximate age is 14-25 years old) in Ukraine and Georgia. These young people will be actively involved at certain project stages, e.g. preparation stage, job shadow, final project conference. Selected care-leavers will become proactive members of project team once being engaged into job shadow. The direct target group is represented by youth workers coming mostly from non-governmental sector in Ukraine and Georgia and CSOs active in the field of youth with fewer opportunities. They will be involved into the project via announcements and reached via social media and networks of partners.Since the project is aimed to build capacity both young people and CSOs they most expected project change is that young people with disadvantaged backgrounds will become included into civil society and become proactive citizens of their countries capable to contribute positively to community life. The project will support a group of young people to become active at national and European level.
