Project Summary
Europe is aging today. With a longer life expectancy, the question of the end of life for patients/ people has become a crucial issue in our societies.
Professional actors are often not trained- or not trained enough-about the issue of the end of life; professional and family helpers feel isolated. Patients/people- tchatter their backgrounds, their origins- are yet entitled to be treated with care and dignity till their very end by qualified professionals able to guide/ to support their families and themselves.
This project aims at fostering the therapeutic alliance between professionals , families and patients/ people thanks to European synergies between various stakeholders.
Our project is about training engineering and more specifically about creating a European framework about the end of life support.
This primary reference tool was created by training professionals thanks to the collaborative work of European professionals , whether medical or social, as well as institutions or family associations.
This European framework about the end of life support has been the reference of further tools targeted at different publics: a guide for professionals to help them support families, documents for families experiencing the end of life of a relative, a matrix for creating a charter dedicated to organizations and last but not least a MOOC -a massive open online course- that gathers, organizes all the created tools, add specific parts and proposes programs depending on the person’s status entering the MOOC.
This project has involved professionals and family carers. The professionals had different backgrounds, whether medical, social or educational.
During this project, different activities were driven such as jobshadowing for professionals and/ or associations to gather the relevant information and to benefit from exchanges of practices to integrate in the various outputs.
A testing period for the different outputs has taken place during the six last months of the two-year project to acknowledge their relevance and consistency.
Now that the project’s reference tools are created, European trainers are provided with the resource to develop/integrate customized contents about end-of-life support and adapt it to the profiles of their trainees.
Through all the partners’ networks, 2500 people were informed of the project and its tools.
