Project Summary
Once again we would like to broaden our knowledge of Europe and improve our teaching methods through a new project with colleagues from other countries. The aim of the project we would like to coordinate is to show the impact of the Roman heritage and Classical Culture in different European countries. The deep trace left on our language, traditions, architecture…goes further than one may expect. No matter how different we are, there is still much in common.
Birds of a Feather Flock Together. Europe’s classical origins, arises from the desire to find a connection other than the economic policy among European countries. It appears from the need to see how our cultures have evolved to the present from common roots.
From this motivation the teachers leading multilingual experimentation and implementation in our school decided to launch the project looking for partners in eTwinning and relationship with teachers from other European centres was established via email.
The first aspects to take into account to choose the partners were: the type of school, the age of the students, the previous experience in European projects and the distance band. But the main factor was to find schools whose Center Project Objectives would prioritize the projection and internationalization of the institution with projects to promote the use of English and expand knowledge in ICT, while learning about our common traits from classical ages and being aware of our European citizenship.
After this preliminary phase of funding an association, a 24-month project with a total of 5 participating countries is generated, allowing 4 mobilities with groups of 5 students with 2 accompanying teachers from each country.
As far as the project activities are concerned, they are divided into three stages: previous, during and post-project.
The previous activities begin with a diagnosis of the needs of the students and the school itself, through a questionnaire in moodle.
The body of the project is divided into 5 sections or thematic blocks: historical, town planning, linguistic, technological and social issues.
Follow-up, progression and evaluation activities will be held between mobilities. An association meeting will be carried out by teachers from all countries in the host school during mobilities to evaluate the project’s progression and solve any probles that may emerge.
The tasks can be individual, in pairs, small groups and even mixed groups from different countries. The aim is also to enhance cooperative and collaborative work.
Dissemination may occur during and after the project, making the most of social networks and checking the impact on google analytics . It is expected that the results of the work of these two years will give continuity to the performances done so far to improve the quality of our schools and to be up-to-date in teaching matters.
