Project Summary
The project took digital education as a central school task in the promotion of disabled students. The digital possibilities are used to overcome their own deficits, to open up new learning opportunities and to enable participation. The use of media was linked to concrete learning tasks from the European Union and Brexit fields.
European policy issues should become more understandable for the students. The project has seized the opportunity to make current political news on the Brexit negotiations understandable. Information has been converted to Easy Language. However, the long-lasting negotiations on Brexit and the political controversy for the participating teachers and students were difficult to understand. The lack of a tangible result was experienced as unsatisfactory.
Digital media could be used to research information, in particular for texts in easy language, for the presentations about own knowledge, for the development of own quizzes and as a translation aid. At school internal meetings, the contents of the project trips were presented.
Possibilities of peer learning could be used only to a limited extent, since the learning conditions between the German and Welsh groups differed significantly. For the German students, the emotionality with which the Welsh classmate was concerned about the Brexit question position was surprising.
