Project Summary

The project title “Bridges between school and life” symbolically expresses the link between the school environment and real life. The impulse for creating the project were the study visits of teachers focused on monitoring education in the field of natural sciences in foreign schools. The motivation triggering the onset of the project was an urge to cooperate during both bringing up and educating students, sharing the acquired experience not only within the school itself but also gaining incentives and examples of good practice. The language affinity, common Slavic roots of the Czechs, Slovaks and Lusatian Serbs, furthermore the possibility of sharing the cultures of the states of the European Union have been an important motivation factor contributing to create the project. The partner schools have the opportunity to experience the creation of science projects.
The priority of a comprehensive and multi-layered project is the development of high quality skills and competencies by using innovative methods in the field of natural sciences in order to support the research based on the worldwide trend IBSE (Inquiry Based Science Education). Its horizontal priority is open learning and innovative methods in the digital age (modern measurement systems, programming, robotics).
Activities are primarily meant for a group of pupils aged from 12 to 15 and for teachers of science subjects. During short- term exchange visits pupils work in mixed international teams. They participate in mutual planning, tasks delegating, finding solutions and verifying their findings in real life situations. They also evaluate and present the outcomes of joint work of outdoor learning. Teachers in the short-term joint trainings prepare the contents of pupils’ meetings, process the INSPIROMAT (task catalogue).
It is creative teaching of natural sciences in mixed pupils teams in cooperation with a professional community from an academic environment with an emphasis on technology, a higher level of research activity in line with the EU’s common challenges. The three partner schools represent the measurable output of the project aimed at increasing the quality and efficiency of education connected with technological development and training of pupils in an informal cultural and social environment. The inspiration based on the combination of school and real life, innovative educational strategies, methods and forms of cooperative activities applicable to different age groups of pupils.
