Project Summary
Our students are living in a world which is changing from day to day. They often feel lost in today’s society and overwhelmed by an overload of information. This may lead to a lack of confidence and trust in institutions, society and even the future.
Our project “building up our common future – dreaming the world of tomorrow” aims at increasing the students’ sense of initiative and responsiveness to social issues and a more active participation in democratic society. We want to raise their awareness of the media as a democratic force, the impact of climate change on our lives and we want them to realize that education plays an important role for all their future decisions. We want to strengthen their hope, motivation and confidence. Furthermore we want to guide them to take responsibility for their future and to cope with the challenges.
We will provide the students with opportunities to acquire and develop key competences for personal development and participation in civic and social life. We are going to provide strategies, good practices, learning materials through a) formal and non-formal learning activities and b) in-presence workshops also based on cooperation with experts and associations.
Our students from Gymnasium Casimirianum in Coburg (Germany), Sint-Jozef Sint-Pieter in Blankenberge (Belgium), Liceo Niccolò Machiavelli in Rome (Italy), Ecole Privée Marie-Consolatrice in Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg), IES Santiago Rusiñol in Aranjuez (Spain) and Lysingskolan in Ödeshög (Sweden) are facing similar challenges. We want the students to experience and discuss different views on these developments and envision solutions. Let’s learn from each other!
Our project group will be students aged 14-17. These students will learn about different challenges and opportunities of the future from internal professionals and external stakeholders. They will meet people from other European countries to build up their capacity for cross-border cooperation. They will find active ways to cope with the coming issues and to have a more hopeful outlook on their future.
In our projects all schools will deal with special topics:
Sweden: importance of education and how to make a good choice to ensure employment
Italy: art experience and service learning (an educational approach that combines learning objectives with community service in order to provide a pragmatic learning experience while meeting social needs)
Spain: the impact of climate change and the consequences of and on lifestyle and consumption habits
Luxembourg: sustainable urban development and active citizenship in the society of tomorrow
