Project Summary
The project “Change! ¡Cambia! – Management and training tools for international volunteering” aimed at improving volunteer projects, as learning experiences, an active tool to achieve competences and to promote the social inclusion. This project wanted to enhance the professionalism and the internationalism of the volunteer projects, developing the value of volunteering experience as a training path for a future job carrier. Furthermore the project fostered and streghtened the cooperation projects between european and non-european organisations.
This project adressed the needs and problems of volunteers and organisations facing the intercultural diversity and the social exclusion, involving 2 european organisations from Italy, Hungary and 5 non-european organisations from Uruguay, Argentina, Nicaragua and India. These organisations throught the exchange of good practices and competences in the work for inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities studied and analysed the best practices of project managment and training for projects of international volunteering.
The output of the project is a Kit focused on the management of volunteering projects and on the training methods used to prepare and support volunteers before, during and after the experience. It includes activities and good practices of training and social inclusion based on non-formal educational methods, it analyses which skills can be achieved through volunteering experiences and how to recognise them.
The production of the Kit involved actively youth workers, members of the organisations, young people and volunteers and was developed through three different activities:
– during the European Voluntary Service (15 volunteers) volunteers and ex-volunteers, youth workers, tutor, mentor, memebers of the organisations will collect materials about the needs and the problems emerged during the implementation of the same and past projects.
– during a Training for Youth Worker, 15 tutors and mentors of the participating organisations met in Italy in February 2017. During a week of work the participants shared materials, suggestions, comments on best and common practices and started to work on the production of the Kit.
– a Youth Exchange (20 participants) has been the moment to test some of the practices of the kit and its contents. The programme was organized with voluntary work moments togheter with non-formal activities about learning processes and learn to learn skills.
After the three activities the coordinating organisation finally completed the Kit production, layout and translation and printed several copies for partners and stakeholders. The CO also produced a video to present project activities and results.
All project results were presented in the final transnational meeting by all the representatives of the organisations to other european organisations, particularly during two international network meeting of the Phiren Amenca and EDYN networks.
The mobilities involved in total 48 young people that, through the activities learned how to plan and implement projects with young people with fewer opportunities, participated to a process of learning and studying of project management tools and training methods.
The Kit is an innovative and usefull tool for the involved and interested organisations and can better support the recognition of the volunteering experiences.
The Kit was shared with many local partners especially by the coordinating organisation, and will still be disseminated in future projects and activities. The video was share in the social networks and partners’ websites.
All project products have been collected in the project web platform: https://projectnextgeneration.wordpress.com. This platform has been active for three projects now and is updated by volunteers contribution about volunteering experiences abroad.
