Project Summary

Without doubt, this digital era has affected our lives in many ways, among which education occupies a great part. Our students are all digital natives now, which means they are used to the high speed standards of this digital era. They live in an environment enclosed with Internet and they are much more different than what their peers were 10 years ago . Those technologies effect how we live, work and learn. According to the results of the PISA 2012, it is suggested that students who use computers moderately at school tend to have somewhat better learning outcomes than students who use computers rarely. Using computers and similar technological tools in education is a must nowadays. Within our Project, we will introduce various Web 2.0 tools both to students and teachers and how to use them in education settings. Web 2.0 tools enable active and collaborative learning. In order our students to fully engage in the future workforce, our education systems have to provide them with the skills and capacities for 21st century citizenship—global awareness, creativity, collaborative problem-solving, self-directed learning . In today’s world, it is impossible to use traditional teaching/learning techniques to teach the ‘connected’ technology savvy students of the 21st century. Our project mainly aims to;
* identify the needs of students
* transform traditional learning environments into modern innovative ones(environments enriched by web 2.0 tools)
* create learner-centered education possibilities and techniques
* integrate the use of web 2.0 tools into the curriculum
* prepare demo lessons and a guide in which web 2.0 tools are used
Our project is an answer also to the teachers. In our project, with an LTT which will be held just for teachers, they will be introduced to many innovative digital tools(Web 2.0 tools) and then they will have the chance to test and implement those tools at first hand. Thanks to the rapid developments, there are tonnes of Web 2.0 tools and at the end of our project, the teachers will prepare a reference guide consisting of most useful digital tools for specific courses of study(ICT, Language Teaching, Geography, Maths)
Our project will create awareness about the effective use of innovative learning and teaching methods in educational settings and also breaking of prejudices about innovative learning methods. The outputs of our project are going to be accesible by everyone via the website and anyone can use them as they like. We are going to inform local and regional authorities via sending e-mails and social media notifications. Although the output of the project is in English, every partner country publishes the output in their native languages, making them possible to be used in their own territory. In each partner, there will be a responsible teacher for dissemination activities. S/he will always be available to communicate with the coordinator. Dissemination activities will be done according to a common plan. ICT teachers or teachers interested in digital literacy skills will also take charge in. Our digital outputs will be disseminated via digital tools like social media accounts, web pages etc. ICT teachers will take place for this kind of activities. To ensure sustainability and dissemination of project results, our strategic partnership foresees conferences at local, national and European level, as well as designs jointly a follow-up strategy. All the things related to our project will be accessible through the website and digital class for anyone who ever wants to access. All of the partners can upload their own education materials on the web site and digital class. Those materials will be suited via Web 2.0 educational tools.
The project results will be used and exploited in the longer-term. It is important to view dissemination and exploitation as a progression that extends beyond the duration of the project, and into the future.Once cooperation between the schools and other local organizations and institutitons has been established,these networks can even in the future benefit from each other.The projects carried out in cooperation can be seen as take-off actions for further cooperative activities.When the project finishes, each school will set up the organization of work to upload new documents on CURRIKI. One should take into consideration the fact that due to professional project training/learning and teaching activities for teachers, learners and local communities we make an enormous investment into human capital. The knowledge and new skills obtained through the participation in the project will result in higher quality of education in the future.The project participants will be more mobile and qualified. We believe that the best investment is investment in people.
