Project Summary

With our project Erasmus + KA2 “Cities with Intangible Heritage” we propose to establish collaboration between schools of cities that maintain a cultural tradition recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Heritage.

Intangible Heritage seems particularly relevant to the education of our students because, unlike individual artistic creations, it is a wealth maintained through the effort and cooperation of a human group through generations.

Establishing communication, mutual knowledge and exchange of ideas among the participating schools we hope to achieve the following objectives:

– That our students become aware of the richness that the diversity of cultural contributions of each country or city makes to the common heritage of Humanity.

– To deepen in those aspects of social cohesion and solidarity that the different traditions imply.

– To develop the awareness of European citizenship, valuing the different traditions that have enriched Europe’s cultural heritage along the centuries.

The partner schools are located in cities that have a declaration of Intangible Heritage by UNESCO: Cremona (“Manufacture of the Violin”), Edirne (“Yagli güres”), Vienna (“Spanish Riding School”) and Palermo (“Marionette Theater”). For our part, we bring our tradition of the “Patios Festival”.

• ISTITUTO DI ISTRUZIONE SUPERIORE “STANGA” (Cremona)
• EDIRNE LISESI (Edirne)
• LICEO REINA MARGHERITA (Palermo)
• BUNDESHANDELSAKADEMIE WIEN 10 (Viena)
• IES “MEDINA AZAHARA” (Córdoba)

The partners (teachers and students) would communicate through etwinning and a project website, where the results of the different activities related to the project would be shared.

Among these activities, there could be the following ones:

• Preparation of an on-line didactic game with questions about different aspects of the intangible heritage of each participating city.

• Creation of a video in which each center would be in charge of the part corresponding to the patrimony of its city, until completing a small documentary carried out by the students.

The design of these activities would involve a research by our students about their own cultural heritage. It would be, to a large extent, field work, with interviews to the current people in charge of the tradition. This would lead to articles on the web, exhibitions in different centers and preparation of meetings in different countries, since in such meetings the host students could serve as guides to their guests.

It is important to insist on those aspects that imply social cohesion in all the traditions: coexistence and shared spaces in the Cordoban patios; values of generosity and solidarity in the Turkish struggle; concerts as a social act; etc…

We would also like to point out the special role that music always plays in the different traditions: flamenco in the courtyards, double reeds instruments and drums in the Turkish fight, classical music in the manufacture of the violin, etc …

No less important it would be to develop the social conscience of our students and their interest in the integration of social minorities, through the awareness of the participation that the humblest classes have always had in sustaining these traditions.
