Project Summary

CLIL CONNECTION project integrates European schools with diverse experiences in the Erasmus + program. Some of the schools, such as those in Poland, Greece and Spain, have already worked together on previous projects, and others, such as those in Italy and Lithuania, are new partners to work with. The previous experience of the first three, related to Scientific Education projects, has also served to share experiences around the CLIL methodology, and is the origin of this new project. To complete the team of partners, eTwinning was searched for the most suitable ones, with the idea of jointly developing a project on the use of the CLIL methodology in bilingual education, prioritizing the strengths of each school around the development of didactic materials and proposals for the lessons of different curricular areas. The experience in the application of the CLIL methodology is also diverse in the team, which is why training activities for teachers are included, with the aim of improving knowledge of the CLIL methodology and combining criteria for the development of didactic proposals and materials, guaranteeing its quality and utility, improving the bilingual projects of each partner school. The materials produced will be published digitally, to serve as resources and proposals for other schools as well, and will be open access on the internet.
In addition, the project will be completed with short student mobilities, one in each partner country, in which activities and workshops related to the strengths of each partner will be carried out, the common development of materials will be promoted, and intercultural awareness will be facilitated and European of all the participants.

Among the tangible results of the project are:
* CLIL materials for the classroom and didactic proposals, available openly on the Internet,
* The web, the blogs (of each school) and the eTwinning space of the project;
* Videos and audiovisual presentations on the mobilities and activities of the project,
* The creation of the project logo
* The guides for scaffolding in the CLIL classroom.

The objectives of this project are:
* Reinforce the implementation of the CLIL methodology in the European Schools, project partners.
* Promote and encourage the participation of families and the school community in the development of the CLIL approach, in each school.
* Share good practices and success strategies related to the CLIL method and bilingualism in general.
* Establish a small network of schools that are implementing CLIL in Europe.
* Provide training, materials and skills for participating schools to promote CLIL in a sustainable way.
* Promote the acquisition of skills and competences through the implementation of CLIL.

The selected priorities are related to the acquisition of high-quality competences and skills, and the promotion of a comprehensive approach to language teaching and learning. When we develop CLIL, there is a relationship between high expectations and student motivation. CLIL enables students to learn faster and easier to improve general and specific proficiency in the second language. It also has a strong connection to the cultural and social dimension, making it easier to develop a better understanding of the cultural and intercultural context. Through the CLIL challenge, students develop confidence in their skills and academic skills are fostered, and students develop multilingual interests and attitudes. Another key factor is the participation of families and the community in CLIL classrooms, which leads to improvements in the academic performance of students, in coexistence and in relationships between families and the school. Their participation, even if they are not experts in the CLIL classroom language, gives students the opportunity to interact with adults who have different educational backgrounds, occupations, or lifestyles that can help children learn different points of view and overcome stereotypes. Since they are part of the student’s life, their participation makes learning more meaningful.
The final products of the project will be, on the one hand, a tool to facilitate the achievement of the objectives, and also a tool to improve the dissemination and subsequent impact of the project. Schools will create different CLIL lessons, related to common topics and content they have in common, paying special attention to those related to European cultural heritage.
