Project Summary

The project aims to promote, in every partner school, a better knowledge of the issues related to climate change and biodiversity, by approaching topics of urban ecology, ecological projects, preservation of soils, pollution of the natural environments and habitats and quality of life.

The six schools that have formed this partnership can enhance the project, bringing their experiences of how global warming and climate change have affected their regions and countries. Each Learning, Teaching and Training Activity will focus on a sub-topic and the majority of the activities leading up to the mobility will pay particular attention to the sub-topic, preparing the students for the short term exchanges of groups of pupils. The sub-topics have been divided as follows: Finland – 3 R’s – Reducing, Reusing and Recycling, Portugal – Healthy Outdoor Activities in Harmony with Water, Cyprus – Organic Farming and Cooking, Italy – Changes in Flora and Fauna, Iceland – Renewable Energy. The Learning, Teaching and Training Activities will also share common activities: the photomosaic and the cooking of organic food, which will eventually lead to the final product of the cookbook. The experiences and final products will all be presented in the conference which will be held for the whole community in each school at the end of the project.

Life on earth is interdependent and if man does not respect nature, a very big price will be paid. Therefore, the project aims to impose a deep respect for nature and a sense of responsibility to protect and preserve it by analysing and changing people’s attitudes and behaviours in their every day actions and activities. Through outdoor activities of planting trees and others plants and raising awareness about actions to lower carbon dioxide, creating posters, e-books, magazines, video presentations, photomosaics and a published cookbook, students will gain more knowledge about ecosystems, healthy lifestyles and their actions to preserve nature and curb climate change.
