Project Summary

Context
The philosophy of the subject is analyzed in two axes to which we will focus during the implementation of the project.
The first is to record and examine a wide variety of representatives from different cultural cultures – Portuguese,
Greek, Spanish and English as well as minority groups attending some of the participants educational institutions. We hope to get to know and understand traditions, customs, and ways of life. Perhaps in this way it is finally possible to explore what connects us and what differentiates us
The second pillar concerns the question of less respect for students towards their teachers. Teachers now face the difficult situation of managing students’ behavior during the course. This is a consequence of the fact that the profession of teacher has now lost a great deal of respect for society. If 40 years ago there was a high percentage of students wishing to become teachers (about 40% of students), these numbers have dropped dramatically (below 8%).
Consequently, CONNECT aims to bring together people with different challenges and cultures (students and teachers of different cultures), in order to create a strong, cohesive community in which mutual respect and respect develop.
Objectives
The project targets the achievement of the following objectives:
01. Improving cultural awareness and acceptance of social, national and cultural diversity
02. upgrading collaboration and communication between school stakeholders (pupils, teachers, parents)
03. Improving Transferable Skills (Data Selection and Handling, ICT, Critical Thinking)
04. Improving the level of linguistic communication in English and other dialects
05. Increasing creativity and self-confidence of students
06. upgrading the prestige and respect for the profession of teacher
07. exchange of experience and good practice among teachers experiencing similar teaching challenges
Participants
The target group is about 600 students in our schools aged 5-14. Of these, the 120 students are the ones facing economic and social challenges of integration (students with SEN, migrants, orphaned children, Roma minorities). Students with direct attendance are counted at 60 (4 / country / C1-C3, 3 / country / C4) and 40 participants (2 / country / C1-C5)
Activities
Student exchanges give participants opportunities to present multimedia lessons with their culture, while interacting with each other and knowing each other. They practice linguistic skills, history, legends, music, hobbies, favorite games, and more. At the end of each exchange, the Ss and Ts are examining what they have learned about each other, focusing on similarities and differences between countries, which they include in the meeting report.
At the closure of the program a short-term joint training of staff is taking place, in which T shares common or innovative practices on the methods used to enhance cohesion and the possibilities for cooperation in multicultural and particular social classes. The resulting product is the creation of a good practice guide who addresses such issues (quite common in European schools).
C1 – Romania – NOV 2018 – Historical and musical links
C2 – Italy – MAR 2019 – Legends and hobbies
C3 – Grecia – OCT 2019 – Geography and games
C4 – Bulgaria – MAR 2020 – Celebrities and Customs
C5 – Turkey – MAY 2020 – Joint training event for staff
Results
Results: Increasing motivation, deeper knowledge and understanding of Europe’s cultural heritage, better language skills and critical thinking, enhanced self-confidence, stronger relationship between the Ss and Ts, respect and acceptance of tolerance and acceptance values for more students from the participating schools, close cooperation between teacher partners.
Products: legend collections, song collections, envelopes with pupils’ lesson plans, collections of country – educational – history – geography presentations, digital calendars with student deposits, guides to good practices for dealing with challenged cultural or social classes, certificates, management.
