Project Summary
The goal of the project was to create methods that would help municipalities to decrease the volume of solid municipal waste as well as to adopt new legislation resulting from the Circular Economy Package that has recently been adopted by the European Union and will have to be implemented in next 2 years in the member countries. The output of the project is a practical toolkit with the innovative approaches which will help the relevant people in municipalities with adopting new approach to waste management leading to reducing the amount of mixed waste.
Target group of this project were representatives and stakeholders in municipalities who are interested in reducing the mixed solid waste produced in their regions.
During the project we developed an innovative Educational Zero Waste Toolkit that was tested by the target group in each partner country (Czech Republic, Belgium, and Slovenia), improved based on the feedback and then spread to as many municipalities as possible. The Toolkit is innovative not only with its aim but also with methods used as it consists of online and interactive features, easy to understand and using elements of nonformal education.
The project was international collaboration of partners from Czech Republic, Belgium and Slovenia that are working on zero waste topics in municipalities as well as adult education.
Project “Creating zero waste methodology for municipalities” should be a first step towards more educated municipalities systematically reducing their production of waste and therefore it should contribute to reduce the impact of human activity on the environment.
