Project Summary

• Context of the project
4 partner countries (Romania, Spain, France, Turkey) with 150 students and 15 teachers, wanted to train students to citizenship in a spirit of exchange of good practices and skills. They decided to launch a competition to create an NGO in the field of health and environment. The best proposals (Logo, motto, slogan, objectives, videos, posters, debates and statutes) were rewarded with a trip to Romania. The NGO Hygie was created and has actually started a humanitarian action at a Romanian hospital.

• Objectives: To develop students’ sense of mutual aid, solidarity, tolerance, autonomy and project management / To create a network and prevent illnesses / To share the ideas of scientific innovations and political affairs / To give teachers the necessary tools to create their own simulation / Use platforms to prepare the topics to be discussed during the conference / Strengthen the links between the world of education and the world of politicians / Develop an autonomy to become a socially and professionally engaged actor / Improving knowledge of EU students
The whole was realized in 2 years with virtual and real participative debates which were concretized each year by a conference: 2 confs were realized in France, 2 confs in Spain, 1 conf in Romania.

• Participating organizations
We set up working groups with 8 participants per high school so that a group from the second to the final has a cohort follow-up throughout their studies. In this way, the class in each high school was accompanied and participated in travel and mobility. At the end of these 2 years, all students in the class were able to participate in a mobility. This project included 21 institutions and organizations including 350 participants: European and international high schools, hospitals, European Commission, Paris City Hall, University Pharmacy Paris and Assas Rights University

• Description of activities
Workshop 1: Creation of our NGO in the field of health and the environment through competitions
1) Award “Creation of videos of therapeutic education” by the Ankara high school to transmit key messages in health
2) Award “Name, logo and NGO motto” prize by Parisian High school: HYGIE-Make the world healthier
3) Award “e-Learning Platform” by Cluj Napoca high school

Workshop 2: Sharing e-Twinning tools created by high school students for the NGO website and our e-Learning platform

Workshop 3: Creation of health education tools: 2 videos in Turkish on the use of devices for diabetes and asthma / 3 videos on asthma by Paris / Heart Journey Hygie / interviews of doctors

Workshop 4: “Discovery of robotics in health”: interview with Professor Guy Vallancien / Surgical operation using robotics at Institut Montsouris / creation of 5 videos to create 1 robot for therapeutic purposes.

Participatory debates were settled in Paris in 2017 on “Europe of tomorrow: how to build a better world”, in 2018 “Ethics, Robotics and Health: co-building a collective European conscience”, in Cluj in 2018 “Healthy European environment in a body healthy”

• Results and impacts achieved:
– At the local level, young people have been made aware of the environmental and medical problems in order to encourage their understanding of others
-At the European level, we have created a feeling of sharing and inspired the determination to build a Europe of solidarity
-At the international level, we has taught young people to have common ways of doing things that go beyond law enforcement, but who are committed to raising awareness around the world to ensure that thoughtful practices are the environment. Tweets written by the students and multilingual journals produced by the students were edited and disseminated on the site and distributed to all participants
-The partners managed to create the NGO and to involve political actors such as the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Mr Pierre Moscovici who held a conference on the Europe of tomorrow in front of 200 participants on 13/04/18
– Letters of support and encouragement from the European political leaders of the President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron / from the wife of the French President, Mrs. Brigitte Macron / President of the French National Assembly, Mr. François de Rugy

Long-term benefits: Children with type I diabetes benefit from therapeutic education videos and blood glucose monitors brought to Cluj Napoca. The project continues with another repository for other blood glucose meters. Other collaborative projects between a Turkish hospital and a French one are engaged to train Turkish doctors on innovative medical devices in France.
