Project Summary
Stated as ” a key challenge” through the European Commission (https://ec.europa.eu/migrant-integration/feature/integration-of-migrant-women”):
“Mastering the host country’s language and accessing its labour market are two key steps of the integration process for all migrants.” But migrant women also often take on family and child care obligations which may hamper this process. Consequently, their chances of employment are not as good as those of migrant men and native-born women. This is because migrant women face challenges and barriers as both migrants and women; a double disadvantage that is consistently confirmed by research”. Therefore it seems clear, that there is a need to create empowering modules, that strengthen the knowledge about the new system, find own talents that help them to find a career and better the new language skills.
Intensifying the dialogue with the female migrants through creative methods is our goal.
Therefore finding more information about their needs and opinions and enhancing their insights through the experience of the own creativity.
The creation of creative WS to empower the Migrant Women and pinpoint towards their needs will happen through the creation of empowering creative WS and testing these.
Describing the process and the used creative methods in the handbook and the guidelines for “Creative tools in language learning” and “Creative methods for job seeking” we will create new tools for adult educators, This project will also prove, that the synergies between adult educators and artists will enlighten both groups about other oppertunities in their field of work.
There will be 24- 32 female migrants, aged 18-48, 24 adult educators and trainers, mentors and artists participating in this project.
The following activities will take place:
First we need to explore the existing creative methods and create a framework for the Creative WS. These will be the
– EXPLORATIONAL and CREATIVE WS
– CREATIVE LANGUAGE WS
– CREATIVE JOBTRAINING WS
– AFFIRMATIVE CREATIVE WS
Interviews will be taken with the MW two months after the last WS. This will be followed by the evaluation of the results and we then decide on the Creative Methods that we will use describing the WS in the IOS 1-3.
Therefore the project will develop the following outputs:
IO1 Creative FEMpower Handbook
IO2 Guidelines creative tools language learning
IO3 Guidelines creative tools for job seeking
The information platform ( https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/projects/) will be used to distribute the findings of the project and to have a communication tool.
The case study method helps to study an individual case or that of a group, a community or an institution. The underlying assumption is that any case being studied is representative for many, If not exactly similar, it still will make generalisations possible. The creative methods will vary from theatrical methods like improvisation or biographical methods, painting, singing orthe making of a video clip.
We will open up synergies between artists and adult educators. We want to intensify the dialogue with female migrants, to learn more about their views and objectives and find reliable methods for the integrational task. We will build up and intensify the relationship among the participating organizations and therefore open up to the issues of their countries.
The completion will bring specific insights and the creation of creative WS designed for female migrants and their issues.
By means of this we will highlight the female migrants, give more substance to their issues and empower this group through a broader knowledge. The hope that the results will lead to a unified approach among the members of the EU and the conviction that this would be of immense importance towards further steps to gender equality is shared by all participants of this project.
Migration happens throughout the European Union and it is necessary to work on our approach transnationally, to share our expertise and create solutions together. This would be the next step to move towards a unified system and through that to better the chances for integration.
The biggest impact will be found in the increased language skills and the experience to find out about their own abilities and those offered in the EU. This would be step towards a self- determined life.
If female migrants challenge the barriers they encounter through their gender and cultural imprint and if they have access to education and the work force, EU societies will be empowered and all people will benefit.
