Project Summary
In 2015-2017, 2 partners took part in the KA2 SP-project Looking at Learning [L@L] on the topic of Creative Learning Environments. This project was highly successful, with huge impact and broad dissemination of all the intellectual outputs and results of the project. Discussions and conversations about the innovation in the learning environment started in all local and regional educational environments. As partners also have their international networks, It has spread all over Europe. As a result of this, partners discovered that many organisations are using creative methods, but are also highly interested in sharing and innovating further with peers the educational environment and making it more fitting to the needs of today’s young people and educators.
For this we have developed an 11-months Strategic Partnership project Creative Learning Environments; Adapted and Renewed [CLEAR] as a follow-up on L@L project with 4 European partners on Sharing Practices for educators from various educational fields. The project contains of a long-term cooperation, including 3 transnational meetings, local experimentation activities and 2 seminars for sharing practices and adapting learning environments.
The project is combining practical hands-on and conceptual approaches of learning environments. A special focus will be given to role of creativity and educational value of these learning environments, and also to the link of creative learning environments to the 3 areas of action of the new European Youth Strategy 2019-2027: Engage, Connect and Empower.
Aim: to create a synergy to further explore and develop creative learning elements that engage, connect and empower today’s young people’s.
Objectives:
• to strengthen the existing cooperation/ network and expand the cooperation with new partners
• to create opportunities for organisations and professionals to develop themselves as supporters of learning and creators of good supporting learning environments.
• to share quality methods, tools and learning spaces, develop and adapt for other educational setting and other target groups.
• analyse different dimensions of creative Learning environments, like physical space, use of materials, artistic and creative methods, role of the educator, responsibility of learner
• map out the obstacles that prevent to use the potential of creative learning environments, analyse needs in order to create good learning environments.
This project will focus on all aspects of the creative learning environments, specifically:
• Role of educator and their educational approach
• role of the learner and (self-directed) learning
• learning needs of today’s young people
• use of (creative) materials,
• the potential of physical spaces and “Upcycling” learning spaces.
• Nature as a learning space
• Learning Laboratories and experimentation
• sharing creative quality methods that support learning.
CLEAR project is based on creating quality support in adequate learning environments for young people in various educational settings like schools, youth centres and youth organisations. Sharing the process of changing learning environments into 21st century creative learning spaces, make educators supporters of innovation of their educational spaces, including their role and responsibility and other important aspects of creative learning environments.
CLEAR projects wants to explore how we can translate the EU Strategy into a practical ‘How to Engage, Connect and Empower young people in educational settings?’
The CLEAR project wants to have an impact on education in Europe and see change and innovation in educational practices of educators all over Europe in order to support young people to take ownership of their own learning.
