Project Summary

Create has contributed to the achievement of
:• The objectives of the European 2020 Strategy including the headline education target
• The objectives of the strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020)
• The promotion of European values in accordance with Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union
• EU Agenda on Migration (2015)
7 partners working across 5 different EU member states have supported the development of a European network of professional Arts Therapists (professionals who support migrants with mental health problems through art, music, dance, drama) across Europe and through the development of practitioners competences in working with Refugees with mental health issues through development of sustainable training materials and a network of trained practitioners has supported the EU agenda for adult learning. This network of practitioners have worked in partnership developed training resources which can be used to train other Arts Therapists to work effectively with Refugees with mental health issues, to provide peer supervision to one another through online platforms across different countries and taking into account different therapeutic methods and approaches. The Create project has developed learning resources which support the professional development of new and existing Creative Therapists through the development of approaches for professionals working with migrants experiencing from mental health issues. Create has developed 2 training modules which promote partnership working among Arts Therapists (Art Therapists, Dance/Movement Therapists, Drama Therapists or Music Therapists), existing packages of support for refugee and migrants to EU countries. Furthermore it has developed a comprehensive training resource including in depth case studies demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of using Art Therapies to support the successful resettlement and recovery of Refugees with mental health issues enabling community stakeholders to understand the ways in which such therapeutic approaches can be included in existing packages. It also provided a methodology on how to assess the impact of resettlement support for Refugees with mental health issues. Arts Therapists or other practitioners implementing the support. Furthermore it has provided a baseline consultation and research evidence as to how Arts Therapies are currently used within resettlement of Refugees, how they could be implemented and where they fit it into current resettlement packages. Finally the Create partnership have provided detailed information about the challenges facing the mainstreaming of such Creative therapies in each partner country and looked at the sustainability and analyzed where such services fit on both National levels (in each partner country) and on an EU level in terms of sustaining and growing the CREATE network. Thus the Create has had a appositive impact on:
Refugees and Migrants with mental health issues
Creative Therapists in Europe
Adult Educators working with Refugees with mental health issues

It has done so through
Creation of research and consultation about how Art therapy can compliment and support existing resettlement services and processes in each partner country
Co-development and production of training modules and resources for Arts Therapists across EU.
Co-development and production of training resources for Community resettlement practitioners around the integration of Creative therapy interventions
A proven Impact Assessment tools and process to measure the impact of not just Art therapy but other resettlement services across the EU
A network of Adult Educators ( Arts Therapists) trained in the Create methodology and InterVision process.
A sustainability study on how to maintain the Create methodology.

The longer term benefits of the project:
Improvement of resettlement services for Refugees with mental health issues
Enhancement of competences and skills of Adult Educators (Arts Therapists) as well as other Resettlement Practitioners
The opportunity to integrate Arts Therapies into resettlement packages for Rerfugees with mental health issues across the EU.
The opportunity to broaden and grow the Create practitioner network.
