Project Summary

Our project “Creativity takes Courage”: Discovering Europe through the Arts, aims to improve the cultural knowledge and appreciation of participating students of the four partner schools countries, Ireland, Germany, Sweden and the Czech Republic.

In each of our partner schools the Arts form an important part of our school community and ethos and we aim to develop our students creativity, cultural awareness and confidence through this project. Participating students will be involved in Cultural Exhibitions in each of the partner schools to showcase their engagement in each of the partner schools cultural heritage. The project will allow all students, regardless of background and economic position, to become involved in the project and benefit from the outcomes and experiences. The project aims to promote equity and equality for learning and provide the right to an education for all of our learners. Having the opportunity to travel to and experience a different culture can bring about understanding and appreciation we feel all learners should benefit from. Eight students from each partner school will travel to each country to engage with a larger group of students in creating the artistic programme. Two teachers will accompany each group of students to ensure their safety and full participation in the Cultural Exhibitions. These two teachers will also engage with teachers in the hosting countries to gain insight into day to day life in their schools and also engage with best practice procedures to bring home to their schools.

It is the aim of the project that all students involved will experience the broader European community, engage meaningfully with a culture which is not their own and develop their confidence and independence through their participation. Students who take part in this project will have gained a wide range of skills both in the Arts and in Technology and will have gained experience from their travels which should be an essential advantage to them when they are ready to enter the increasingly competitive world of work.
