Cultural heritage binds Europe together through our common history and values. It also represents the richness and diversity of our cultural traditions. Our shared cultural heritage is to be understood, cherished and celebrated. Yet cultural heritage is not only a legacy from the past. It also helps us forge the way ahead and design our future.
The overall objective of the project is to encourage the sharing and appreciation of Europe’s cultural heritage, to raise awareness of our common history and values, and to reinforce a sense of belonging in a common European space. This Project will support numerous activitiess aimed at presenting the richness and variety of European cultural heritage as part of the common European heritage mosaic.
Promoting the protection, preservation and values of cultural heritage for the community as a whole will emphasize the importance of actively involving as many individuals, citizen associations and institutions as possible in all cultural heritage-related processes.Along with media covered activities, a large number of smaller, but equally valuable activities will be organised, such as workshops, presentations, professional tours, promotions, to be included in the calendar of the European Heritage Days, which are in complete synergy with the marking of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
Cultural heritage consists of cultural and creative resources of a tangible or intangible nature, with a value for society that has been publicly recognised in order to preserve it for future generations. It includes natural, built and archaeological sites, museums, monuments, artworks, historic cities, literary, musical, audiovisual and digital works, and the knowledge, practices and traditions of European citizens.
