Project Summary
European Cultural heritage is historically spread all over the continent and presents much wider influence because of its time span, cultures and civilizations which lived and left their trail. Similarities and diversity in cultural heritage united and divided people and countries throughout history. Most of Europe experienced cultural and artistic history which developed around Mediterranean civilizations and brought its cultural heritage across, influencing future legacy and social, national and artistic development. Therefore, it is important to learn and present the cultural history and values, shared between European partners and educators. Cultural Heritage in the Cities project have essentially educational and significant social values, which will be accessible wider through the project results, to study, share and to learn more about our tradition, multicultural and multi-ethnic legacy and tangible inheritance-based in what we call European civilization.
Experiencing original art and heritage is an important aspect of the training of staff and associated adult educators, especially to include those facing social, financial and other difficulties in order to improve their knowledge and experiences and to learn new methods in presenting these subjects. Our participants are from these categories and we wish to give them the opportunity to develop new competence and skills in their work based on mobilities to partners countries carefully chosen on the merit of their different cultural heritage.
In communication and pre-mobilities online presentations of public heritage, at the places of their creation or stored in the cultural organizations, the public art, architecture and non-material heritage, the participants in mobilities will learn more about the partner’s heritage and will improve their understanding of diversity, practice, knowledge and develop new skills transferred to the adult learners during the training at home. The new experiences will be added to their competence and new skills to practice in their work based on recognising the influences in the original heritage, art or tangible objects, copied and developed further in almost every country (e.g. architecture Frizz, symbols from Greek Mythology, characters etc.)
The background is an introduction to cultural Heritage as a learning subject in adult education, which is not only based on art and tangible objects but also on literature, music, performing and speaking, which defined European cultural heritage and its value recognised and transferred around the world. Its importance is in embracing multi-ethnic and multicultural groups which brought diversity to our cities and developed more complex European civilization. We also recognise that urban cultural heritage is the creation of the community which is supporting the sustainability of specific groups to be validated. Big cities are especially resilient to changes Urban culture and ethnic contribution create a unique identity of the city which we offer to the participants of the project through mobilities and learning about differences between our city’s histories and development. The goal is also to realize that ethnic minorities and migrants are no threat to our culture and that their presence brings more positive diversity through cultural and social integration into our society.
We plan to organise mobilities for our groups of participants, staff, educators and artists-lecturers who will pass on this knowledge and experience to our organisations, staff, adult learners and stakeholders. We also plan to send information about the project to media and relevant cultural and adult education organisations in our countries. The aim is to improve the competence of adults in order to raise their educational level, professional profiles and provide more opportunities for better employment. Also, our organisations will benefit from interesting and capacity building projects in the area of cultural heritage and will attract more users and will be able to find new projects. This is a strong impact of the project on our organisations.
The results of the project will include public meetings and lectures related to the experiences from mobilities and new learning, also online presentations and organisation of similar activities in our countries using the participants as leaders. This is our long term benefit and will support the competence of our staff, trainers and learners to participate in future projects increasing to expand our organisation’s competence and sustainability.
