Project Summary

context/background of project;
The project was born in the Italian school for the necessity to integrate different skills and competences with informal learning; our curricula are very often limited to a traditional and formal learning approach, while, according to new learning approaches, the communicative competence should not been isolated to school experience but it is necessary to support it with direct experience and scientific competence. We shared our idea of mixing abilities with our partner on eTwinning and we came to this project which aims at providing pupils with mixed abilities and at encouraging teachers to use also informal activities for learning.
objectives of your project;
-to promote a direct experience of collaboration with distant partners and experiment a project based on digital sharing integrated with real exchange
-to improve digital competences
-to improve language competence
-to gain more awareness of our local cultural heritage
-to learn more about other european countries
-to learn how to edit and publish an e-magazine to report about the results of the project
-to learn how to speak in front of an audience

number and profile of participants;
Three partners with different experience to share:
the Italian school is a large school with two different fields of study to integrate and the need to promote the introduction of project based learning.
The Greek school has already taken part in different exchange projects and has supported the development of this project with its experience. They have introduced some good practice in their daily learning practice, such as various programs of students’ involvement and integration, to prevent the phenomenon of school drop-off.
At the same way the Portuguese School, which is a professional school, has introduced pedagogical methodologies based on the Open Schools for Open Societies culture, that is, interdisciplinary projects in which students look for problems in the region and in the context of the classroom,and try to develop methods to respond to theseproblems.
All these school share the idea of learning more about our Cultural Heritage and develop a modern approach to learning in order to motivate pupils and teachers in their daily practice.

description of activities;
we have planned eight flows of activities which alternate periods of preparation to mobilities and to dissemination.
The start of the project will take place on a Twinspace devoted to the project to present our different realities and share some presentations of our schools, local communities, highlights and Cultural Heritage. We will continue with the preparation of the first mobility to Italy: Italian families will welcome Portuguese and Greek pupils, will present them our local products, will guide them to visit some highlights and will carry on some tests on balsamic vinegard in the chemistry lab. Teachers will take part in workshops organized by Italian teachers.
The second mobility will be hosted by the Portuguese partner and will include chemical tests on cheese in the lab, as well as the participation to the the Trade Fair and Agricultural of Oliveira do Hospital and the visit to the Museum of Olive Oil in Bobadela.
The third mobility will be hosted by the Greek school and it will include study visits to some highlights of the city of Chania, as a melting pot of civilizations, to an ancient theatre and at the Minoan Palace of Knossos. Workshops will be conducted in the school lab and the students will produce olive soaps and beeswax, which combined with olive oil, has therapeutic properties against chronical health problems. The workshops will be combined with a study visit to ABEA, the oldest olive oil enterprise in Greece.

methodology to be used in carrying out the project:
-we want to design our activities with a great involvement of the students and an approach of peer education;
_we want to implement digital learning thanks to the use of eTwinning and Google Drive;
-we want to apply a scientific approach with the chemical analysis in the laboratory;
-we want to integrate the formal learning at school with the informal learning made possible with the visits to the highlights of the territory

a short description of the results and impact envisaged :
-we expect an improvement of the results in the final exams especially in the students linguistic competences as well as in their scientific subjects;
-we expect to develop better communicative skills for the students;
-we consider that also the teachers taking part in the project will learn a new approach of teaching and learning and will gain more motivation in their work.

the potential longer term benefits:
-the school will develop a new interest in European projects and in the European dimension of learning;
-the participants will share the results with the other schools of the territory and will help other schools to participate in international experiences.
