Project Summary
The project was addressed to the older people’s identified needs. The problem of the digital world, being as a barrier to increasing distance between generations, requires urgent solutions, it has been recognised at the level of partner organisations. Students of the Third Age of Universities from the Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia and Turkey took part in the project. The main target group consisted of 50-80-years-old seniors with a creative point of view, being interested in active participation in the project implementation. In an each organisation there was a group of 20 elderly people (100 people in total). The involved staff was as an other group of project participants (about 40 people). Project activities were focused on the implementation of own programs in the education of adults, in range of realized innovative models of educational classes and activities called “classes of exercises”, different from traditional lesson schedules. These activities were the subject of the confrontation, discussions, polemics, analyses and conferences, which resulted in the development of new forms and ways of transferring knowledge. The conclusions and methods developed and implemented in the partner organizations were innovative for the whole project. Each organisation, depending on many external factors determining the initial stage of advancement of the project participants, carried out the tasks with its own methods. They were also the main results and products of the project. At the initial stage, only the type of action and tools to be used in subsequent educational processes were identified. The target group acquired basic practical skills in the fields of algebra, geometry, new media, ICT, English, mother tongue, economics and entrepreneurship, as well as safe and environmentally friendly use of household appliances. The teaching staff and key personnel have gained the competence in the area of methodology and management of the organisation’s resources. It is a difficult task, but feasible. That is why we are proud to call ourselves “digital innovation” and our listeners “unique ones” because we have already known that in the past of project years, they have acquired the outstanding and desirable skills of safe movement in the “new digital world”.
