Project Summary

The D.E.A.F Plus (Development, Employability, Accessibility, Future) 4 Deaf Capacity Building Project aims to continue the previous project that we had already started and finished between Europe and Asia since 2 years ago. We wish to go on to introduce an innovative way of social and professional inclusion of deaf/hard hearing youth. It will consist of four main activities, namely a meeting,a Youth Exchange, a Short-term European Voluntary Service, a Mobility for youth workers as job shadow and a final conference. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that all activities will include “mixed” groups of both hearing and non-hearing youngsters and youth workers. From this transaction, we expect to go further and deeper to experiment with existing tools of non-formal education and form completely new ones that are specialized for mixed groups of hearing/non-hearing. We are also motivated to learn more about the policies concerning deaf youth in Europe and in Asia, in order to compare them and exchange ideas for their improvement. In addition this project aims to promote the value of a program as Erasmus Plus out of Europe and focus to deaf and hearing youth in the field of social inclusion and social entrepreneurship via non formal education, a field that is inherently linked with the completion of social goals. In this way, participants, organization and social enterprises can find out the competences of each other and the possibilities for future collaboration and integration . As a result the percentage of employability of deaf youth is to increased and entrepreneurs are motivated to include more of them in their activities. In order to complete the above goals, we have formed a partnership between Alter Ego (Greece) that is the applicant and coordinator of the actions since it is very experienced in the field of youth Erasmus+ projects and has also previous experience with deaf youth. Furthermore we collaborate with Gap-Synergia from Portugal that are quite expert in Erasmus projects and involving in their activities youngster with fewer opportunities as deaf youngsters. Then the Culture Center of Deaf of Mongolia an active local body and have a lot of active deaf member in their organization. The last partner is the National Federation of Deaf of Nepal. Both Asian partners are very experienced in working with deaf youth as they are explicitly targeting this youth group as the that is very active in its local and rural community and has experience in forming links and partnerships with local entrepreneurial and institutional actors. This partnership ensures that there will not be overlap of skills; instead the organizations will complement each other and bring their needed expertise in order to successfully complete this project. The project will be constantly documented with reports and digital material. These will be used to write a report in the end of the project and produce a guide and a website with tools of non-formal education.
