Project Summary
The exchange project between Lundellska skolan in Uppsala, Sweden and Bertha von Suttner Schule in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Germany has the main objective is to enhance our students democratic values and support an active citizenship through intercultural exchanges and strengten our focus on the EU and language skills in our schools.
The project will raise awareness of our common European values and herritage and the benefits intercultural understanding can give, in acordance with our horizontal priority “the educational and social value of of European cultural herritage” via transnational networks. Lundellska skolan is an Ambassador School for the European Ambassador School Programme (EPAS). We also want to motivate more students to study modern languages and practise them in a natutal context. Around 60 students in total will take part in different parts of the exchange. The students are between 16 to 19 years old and mostly from the Social Sciences programmes at both schools.
In the activity “short-term exchange of students” there are several activities that will lead to the achievement of the projects objectives. During the exchange the students from both schools will complete a project focused on democracy, how the European Union affects their daily life and how they can affect the desicions of the European Union. The students will also present their results to the rest of the students at their schools. Our activities will also include common excursions to places of importance to our cultural herritage, which will make the students see both what connects them but also see their differences and learn to appreciate them and understand each other. Students will use e-twinning and social media platforms to communicate.
In addition to these platforms for communication we intend to presents the results of the project with different presentation such as video blogs, collage, info points and on social media. Press releases will go out to local media and the students will design a logotype for the projects. In order to obtain further dissemination, we will, after the visit in Germany send out pupils to their former lower secondary schools to hold presentations about the project and the EU. This in order to increase awareness of the EU amongst younger children.
After completing their part of the project, all students and teachers within the project will have to answer questionnaires and tests to evaluate the project. The plan is to continue the exchange between Bertha von Suttner Schule and Lundellska skolan after this project has ended. With the contact between the two schools we intend to further develop and broaden the project to involve more groups at the schools and thereby give even more students important knowledge about the European union.
